No stretch, and it’s really close to a lace weight. I put some comparison yarns in there so you can see just how slender it is. The other variegated is an independent sock yarn which I’d say is right on for fingering weight, and the black is a Knitpicks Hawthorn, which is a little large for a fingering weight. Also, the yarn is single ply, which means that I had some trouble with splitting until I got used to it, but not at all once I was comfortable working with it. I’m so glad that I stuck with it. It’s a beautiful, soft yarn. I wish I had made a shawl or even a summer knitted T-shirt/ light sweater with it. I wanted to try fingerless gloves, and it worked well for that too. It takes a rib well—either 1x1 on the cuff or 2x2 on the fingers. That said, I don’t think it would stretch well for socks or hold up to foot abuse. The weight is not consistent throughout, getting really thin at some points. I also don't think it is soft as the product description describes.
