Yes, this will work fine for backing up your drives. The drive type for your internal drive doesn't matter unless you were planning to remove it and plug it into the external bay (you don't need to do that). As long as your internal drive is readable by your system, that's all you need for this to work. Buy a NEW drive for your backup that will fit into the external bay (SATA, or M.2 if you purchased that version), then copy the data from your internal disk to the external disk. You will then have your backup. Note that while the details specifies that it can support up to 20tb drives, it really only appears to be able to support up to 16tb drives (at least the original one without the M.2 slot). If you are stuck with your system only reading up to 2TB's of disk space, but you have a larger drive, that means you used the wrong partition style (MBR), for larger than 2TB capacity drives you need to use the (GPT) partition style. **Q: Is the power supply universal (110-240V) ?** A: 12v ps. Provided...do not use 12v supply with 5v drives. Some drives are ranged 5v to 12v . Some just say 5v. **Q: Will this product support a 6TB?** A: You will probably have to jump through hoops to do so.
