Is it deep or soft** A: The basic state of the headphones is flat frequency response which is as it should be. Because of this they respond very favorably to how you set the EQ on your playback device. If you want bass, EQ for bass. What they do not do is color the playback like the overwhelming low mid stuff you get out of something like a set of beats. These reproduce what is sent to them very accurately making them great as a studio monitor and even better for home listening. Very impressive headphones for the price point. **Q: Would these be good to use in the office to block noise from neighboring cubicles? And, I don't want my ears to hurt from wearing them.** A: These are very comfortable headphones compared to other closed-back headphones and can't beat the price. Not sure if there would be enough insulation from outside noise, but i you are in an office environment, I would think so. **Q: Is the cord removable?** A: No, the cord is not removable/replaceable on this model. However, it is removable/replaceable on almost any other higher series akg headphone. I also didn't want to be taking my more expensive studio headphones out into that environment. These AKG K72's fill the bill quite nicely.These are light weight and very comfortable to wear for long sessions. They have acceptable sound isolation. The bass is quite good - There's a bit of a bump around 100 Hz, but it is not unreasonable. The midrange is decent, but it does not have 3D audiophile-levels of clarity like $500 studio headphones. However, the midrange response is more than acceptable for tracking. The high frequency response is good, with a smooth roll off starting about 16 kHz. My only criticism would be the vulnerability of the connecting cable to the headset.
