They definitely help. I was surprised. I bought these because I was buying new products to replace my Omeprozole for GERD, I also have IBS-D, gastritis, esophagitis and duodenitis. So I have quite the digestive ruckus to work with. The first time I used it, I didn't notice anything. However, the 2nd time! I had heartburn bad; I took one and within 20 minutes or less, gone. I was amazed. I take it before meals, particularly containing onion, garlic and acids and it has helped tremendously. I guess there are some health warnings for those with blood pressure issues I think I read, heed to those. Always research anything before buying to make sure it's a good fit for all your conditions and if you take any meds.

I have suffered from the symptoms of chronic gastritis for the past 9 months. Medication wasn't alleviating the problem. After doing a search on the web for a more natural approach to curing the symptoms, I purchased the DGL licorice. I have been taking it half an hour before meals in combination with Zinc Carnosine for the past 3 weeks. I am happy to report that I have been almost completely symptom free. There have been a couple of relapses when I ate foods that were not part of the GERD diet (ie. Red sauces or spicy foods). I plan to continue the DGL licorice for a full 2 months to heal my stomach lining. I was sceptical to begin with, but the fact is, I am sooooo much better since starting the DGL licorice.

No side effects unlike prescription meds. I am taking twice a day before lunch and supper. This is my best day yet without horrible heartburn. It has been such a long time battling acid reflux i cannot believe the difference. If I feel a tinge of it coming on a glass of water is all it takes. I must add this p.s. Before supper meals i took as directed but by bedtime i was so wired i could not sleep. This happened on all evenings i took DGL. I am probably one of the unfortunates that can t take it later in the day. Therefore a 3 star rating. I felt weird the first day I took D GL. I N S OMNIA

After reading online about the value of licorice root extract for stomach/digestion issues, I decided to give it a try. I was steered to this product because another article warned that only DGL licorice extract should be used. The regular licorice root extract can cause issues such as high blood pressure. So to be safe I opted for this product. So far so good. I have been taking it exactly according to label directions (one per day and with food) and do think I feel better. It is really too soon to tell about the efficacy of any supplement but I'm optimistic that this product can and will help. I am also aware of the label warning that this supplement should not be taken for longer than 4 consecutive weeks... and that would be 28 tablets of the 200 in the bottle. So what that means is that I have plenty for future use. I imagine it should have excellent shelf life in the refrigerator. The price is right too. I don't think you can go wrong using this DGL Licorice ( Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice Root Extract) by Nutrissence. If the manufacturer is reading this review, I would appreciate a comment about shelf life. Many thanks.

I have been using Prevacid for years. My blood work showed my kidneys are failing. My Dr told me Prevacid is very bad for the kidneys and to quit. I have acid reflex so bad that I can't sleep without Prevacid so I did some research.After many hrs I found this DLG and ordered it. I also ordered sodium bicarbonate pills. I started taking them both (3 times a day) and cut the Prevacid in half for 3 days. After 3 days I quit the Prevacid and haven't had acid reflex since.Now this may not work for everyone but it worked for me. Good luck.

I had to switch from chewable as I did not want any sweetener in it and this has worked well for me.

I took 1/2 the bottle and found no change in acid reflux. What I did notice is I frequently felt dizzy - almost the same feeling I get when my already low blood pressure goes super low. The night I took it with hot lavender tea was the worst case of dizziness I've ever had. I stopped taking it and dizziness went away on day 2. Glad it worked for others and wish it worked for me. :/

I ordered this form of licorice as I had read that it doesn't affect your BP or give headaches. Although I am fortunate not to have hypertension, I didn't want to take anything that may trigger it. I have been using this form of licorice and have had positive effects. I have not had any side effects or stomach issues. Will use this form instead from now since it seems to work just as well and to also be on the safe side of not inducing hypertension.
