Lilly's Big Day

Very cute book

I used to read this to students at the elementary school. Always a big hit! I purchased for my granddaughters. I love all Kevin Henkes books. This one is probably my favorite.

I love Kevin Henkes, and have a majority of his books. I teach 2nd Grade, and for the Book Character Parade at my school this year, I really wanted to be Lily! I was afraid that I might have other Lilys of the Purple Plastic Purse variety, so when I saw this book I decided to order since I loved her outfit. Little did I know that this would soon be my new favorite Kevin Henkes book!Lily is so excited that her classroom teacher is getting married, but is devastated when she learns that she won't be the flower girl. When the actual flower girl gets nervous right before its show time, Lily steps in to save the day like only Lily can! Thought that I knew how this book would end, but I didn't, and my students thought it was hilarious! If you haven't read this book, you definitely should!

Nice read for preschool through 2nd grade.

Loved the story in this book! We got it for a little friend Lilly for her 5th birthday but read it a couple of times before her birthday party (with my 7-yr old). So cute and uplifting (literally). Highly recommend for any little girl, especially one who is about to be a flower girl or desperately wants to be one but hasn't yet had the opportunity (that was my daughter). I'm looking forward to checking out this author's other books. Very sweet, clever writing! And the illustrations are wonderfully expressive! Hilarious at times!

This book was recommended as a gift for flower girls in my daughters wedding. The flower girls are sisters and the younger did become a bit stage frightened but her 7 year old sister supported her. My daughter gave it to them AFTER the wedding(we didn't want to plant the idea of stage fright) and they were very pleased. It is too young for the 7 year old but she will read it to her sister. It is a lovely hardcover worth keeping!

Our newborn daughter’s name is Lily so for Christmas I was searching for books with her name. Though spelled differently, this book caught my eye because we had been gifted “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse” so I was familiar with the character. It’s another cute story about this little girl mouse who is quite the character! Very glad to have found it and it’s a great addition to our nursery library.

Our granddaughter who is four is going to be a flower girl in November. She was kind of afraid of the idea. I bought her this book about Lilly who wanted to be the flower girl at her teachers wedding. It's a darling story and now Sydney is talking about walking down the isle at her cousins wedding. And seems to be looking forward to it.
