True enough, the first clock did not keep any time at all. The second hand seemed to move appropriately, but the hour and minute hands didn't budge. After several times at replacing the battery and resetting the clock, I gave up and ordered a replacement. I was willing to take a chance because I really love the clock. The replacement does keep good time, and it looks great on my vanity. I give it 5 stars overall, but I wouldn't rate it as gift worthy because who wants the recipient to have to deal with all this?
