On the back, it has 3 metal prongs (Line, Neutral & Ground) and one plastic prong designed to plug into the 2nd ground prong on the duplex receptacle. **Q: If you plug this in to one socket of a a double wall socket will it block the other one?** A: Yes....the bottom 3 prongs are metal and what draws electricity, the top 3 prongs are plastic and I must mention that they are shorter in length then the metal prongs. I have an gf I outlet that wouldn't hold tight on the top prongs which caused the surge protector to push out of the top outlet. Not sure why the manufacturer wouldn't make the plastic dummy prongs EQUAL in length. I also must mention that it doesn't have the center screw to secure it to the outlet. So if you plug in something with a tight fit, when unplugging the cord it will pull the surge protector from the outlet as well. Not a good option for garage ceiling outlets either due to Not having the center outlet screw mount. I bought 13 more than 1 year ago for my house and they are all still working.
