I've never built a deck, only done a few casual pre-con tournaments during lunch breaks at the office. A few people brought in Duel Decks which were fun to play and well balanced, so I thought I'd pick this up and bring it in.The Clash Pack is apparently a new thing, which is meant to combine the idea of duel and event decks. This can either be played as two separate casual deck, or combined into a single 'near tournament' level deck that's very good with a little augmentation.The problem is it's trying to do a little too much and the balance suffers. The 'Fury' deck is significantly stronger than the 'Fate' deck. It's meant to rely on large, high-cost creatures with monstrosity that take a while to bring out and power up. The problem is that there are tons of lesser creatures that double as mana or that add to the mana pool in some way. In every match I've played so far, the creatures come out and bulk up fast.It might not be so bad but it also contains a number of powerful ways to regain life, the idea being that you're going to take a beating before your big guys come out and you might need it.On the plus side, this gave me the chance as a novice to try to re-balance the decks myself, which was fun and interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing if they're better matched now and tuning them further. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly What I Was Looking For *by L***I on Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2014* I got a pretty sweet recommendation on a build for the deck that only utilizes three singles outside of the deck. I haven't managed to play the revised addition, though I'll post the build after the review. At first the clash seems pretty one-sided, though Fate's abundance of flying creatures can overpower Fury if you don't get enough lands to summon cards earlier on, leading to a slow start. For Fury, there's not much room for being mana-less at the beginning, though it gets a lot easier to acquire it once you get truly rolling. I thought slow starts would be uncommon, but I did manage to lose pretty heavily at one point. However, when combined, I would say this deck, along with the singles added (2 extra Broods and a God of Horizons) make it a fairly good deck for the price. It has some major pros and cons as well. It all depends what you want it for as to whether or not it’s a good buy for you.Buy it if you want a lot of sweet rares. Building these decks from buying singles would seriously bankrupt you. So from that aspect it’s fantastic. It’s also good if you are looking for a good way to teach someone the game. Now I’m not saying the decks are balanced. They are clearly skewed towards the red/green deck. There are some very specific cards that blow up the blue/green one and it ramps crazy fast! The blue one on the other hand doesn’t have enough cards to tempo out against the green. And that is really their only chance.So if you are looking for two balanced decks just to play against each other, then I would probably skip this. Because of the above mentioned deck unbalances.That being said, it is a really good buy I would recommend. You get some great rares. Some foils (if that’s your thing), and alternate art to boot. Now if I could just find a good pre-con control deck to match that green/red, then I would be a happy guy.
