If you are looking for a smock that is good value for money, warm and can cope with getting moderately wet then it appears to be a two horse race between this and the Montane extreme smock. Although they are in some ways different they have a great deal in common i.e. both are well made, robust and are much better worn rather than carried (just in case) in your rucksack.Pros.Good design,very good materials and well made.Primaloft insulation is widely regarded as being amongst the best synthetic insulation materials.Incredibly long “side” zips that extend from the hem and down the arms almost to the elbows, Hence very easy to get on or take off and great ventilation options.The mid point at the hem both back and front extends approximately 15cm below the level at the side offering great protection.Good range of pockets the 2 side hand warming pockets are in fact one “tunnel” i.e. you can join your hand together inside, There is also an additional “kangaroo pouch” with a zip at the top.Very warm and if worn over a decent down vest could just about cope with the majority of weather conditions most people will encounter at any time of year.Cons.Even with the good ventilation I would not use this at temperatures of over say 8 degrees centigrade.Although the insulation is compressible this will take up considerable space inside a pack.Down is still significantly lighter and more compressible (as well as being significantly more expensive and less suitable in damp or wet conditions).

Like wearing a sleeping bag and has good pockets to keep your rizla dry…

Absolutely amazing jacket, if you're thinking of buying one, do it. I spent ages watching videos and reading reviews on it. It's a brilliant jacket and stands up to the elements. I also own a buffalo smock, the keela is different and is not lined but id say is almost on par with it.

Perfect, warm, windproof everything they said it would be. Can't fault it. Definitely buy again. Just what was needed.

Love it, really light weight but still warm, a firm favourite for me.

This garment is well-made, versatile, cheaper than any other equivalent product of top quality - that I have found anyway. You might wish to consider the belay jacket instead - it's just as good, but not quite as versatile, and it is cheaper still.Note that I have no connection with the firm at all, but have used their products before and have never been disappointed. Well done to the Scots!
