It took my wife and I the better part of an hour, a quart of "ACETONE" and 2 rolls of paper towels to get the mess cleaned up before it started setting, which by then was turning into a solid so it no longer was just wipeable, it had to be scrapped up, then there was the hardwood Oak floor that was in need of clean up next, there was blobs of glue there and I had to use the Acetone which I really didn't want to use to clean it up with because it also took off the floor finish as well. So now I am stuck (literally) with having my hardwood oak floor refinished, and that alone will probably cost well over a thousand dollars to have done. I cannot possibly relate in this post how upset I am with this terrible piece of junk. It is now about 18 hours later and the chemical smell from the "Barge Cement" is still in my home, and that is with all of the windows and door open since 6am, windows open all night too. Now I am stuck (yeah I know) with the cost of the wasted leather which was $79.99, the 20hours I spent tooling said leather at $25.00 per hour= $500.00, the problem now of today having to go and buy more leather at $80.00, then retooling the whole project over again. This is not including having to explain to my customer that I will not be done with her CUSTOM HAND/SHOULDER BAG now for at least another week or longer and it is all because of this piece of garbage that I bought on desertcart! I've Barges in the past for laminates (GREAT STUFF) but I think it's too thick to remain stable in this container. I use 2 different types of Titebond wood glue in mine and I use the small acid brushes with it. Never had a problem with dry out - have one unit that's 12 years old and still in use today. Just my opinion. If you don't have one of these Big Horn glue units - they're well worth the $$. Hope this helps. **Q: How are you supposed to fill this with glue?** A: Put the glue, and thinning agent, in the pot opening -where the brush rests as shown in the photo. The cone, as seen sitting alongside, goes over the opening covering the opening and the brush handle, thus preventing the glue inside the pot and the glue on the brush bristles from drying out. The thinning agent can be added to the pot, lid placed over the opening, and the pot shaken to mix. The plastic of the pot prevents glue from sticking to it permanently. One can merely pull off or scrape off the glue with one's fingers. When the pot is not being used, it can be set up on its backend, opposite the rounded front opening, which minimizes the glue's surface area compared to when it rests on its bottom thus slowing the evaporation and subsequent thickening of the glue. The glue only slowly thickens, but one only has to add more thinning agent to bring the glue back to the desired viscosity. I have used other style glue pots, but have returned to this style as it is more effective and efficient. **Q: Can the Big Horn 19040 30-Ounce Glue Container with Brush be used with a solvent based glue? Thank you.** A: I have only used Elmers White glue in it but it works great. It is made out of a heavy plastic. The worst ever! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Looks as good as my other ones *by J***H on October 1, 2020* As described in the add. Cheaper the the expensive brand which I’ve had multiple of. They all seem the same. As a saddle maker I’ve used a hand full of these. I love them. I’ve read other reviews mentioning problems of them leaking at the seems. I’m guess they left their glue pot flat all the time instead of kicking up on end when not in use (like the position used when filling it). If you leave them kicked up on end then the fumes which create pressure will escape through the cap. Instead of push glue out the seams Because it has nowhere to go. Tip back down when useing glue pot but always return to up right position if not using for longer than a hour or so. A buddy had even a nice one blow out and waist an entire container of glue more than once. Cost money!! Worse of all the puddle of glue had dryied on his bench by end of weekend. Since he started kicking the pot up when not in use, no more problems. Hoping that helps. Time will tell if that is the problem with this product.
