On the inside it states Rome Industries Inc., 1703 West Detweiller Drive, Peoria, IL 61615. However on the back of the card it states made in China by Rome Industries Inc. The iron has a 5 year warranty. Unfortunately there are not many cast iron waffle irons to choose from. And although some people are hesitant to buy products made in China, I'm sure that these are made to Rome Industries' standards. I've had the iron since 2010 and have encountered no problems, plus the waffles turn out fabulous. Mind you, I use my own recipe that uses folded in egg whites, which produce fluffier waffles. One thing to note however, the handle is short, so you have to use gloves or pot holders to handle it. Never been a problem for me. You will need to season it first, but once it's seasoned as long as you treat it right, you shouldn't need to season it again. I'm never going back to the teflon poisonous electric waffle iron again. Is this a painted finish?** A: If you still have the waffle iron, use wax or parchment paper on each side.
