Note: Added exterior 2 X 4 between joists under deck for additional reinforcement for lag (wood) screws. Used 2" X 5/16" hex head lag/wood screws instead of supplied #14's to mount the base through deck board into the joist or 2 X4 material for a solid base attachment. Make a second and higher attachment of the light post to your wood deck rail with a simple galvanized or stainless pipe strap.
