Traditionally they use boiled linseed oil, although some people use tung oil.** A: Yes you can definitely use this on axe handles, it's Tung Oil based and like a traditional danish oil. **Q: Can you add this on top of butcher block already treated with mineral oil?** A: I would recommend the original Walrus oil cutting board oil. Natural ,as in, it will leave the wood the natural color to that species, because it is clear. It will enhance the natural color and grain patterns a bit because it is hydrating the wood. A good idea of the effect is to wipe the wood with a damp rag (with water.) It will look almost wet with a slight sheen.
