New Balance Kids' KV990V4 Pre Running Shoe

Best shoes on the market to fit over AFO's/ ankle-braces. They are durable, open very wide to accommodate the braces and fasten securely. I tried at least 3 other supposedly "extra wide" shoes that came nowhere near fitting. The New Balance are worth the extra money!!

We always go back to the kv990. After trying different models from NB, this model is the only one that is truly wide enough for wide feet. We had the kv990 last few school years and thought we'd try a different style this year, but no model was ever as comfortably wide. Now we are on our 4th pair! This year's version seems to have a more secure Velcro strap too.

If your child has wide feet, New Balance shoes might be the only shoes that fit correctly. This shoe is great in XW for chubby toddler feet, however the velcrostrap was a deal breaker for us because it prevented my child from moving his feet up and down properly. This version of the shoe with laces is the best shoe ever though! So keep in mind when you buy this shoe that the Velcro strap might not be very comfortable.

So happy to find a shoe that fit our fat footed little one. It is like he had a powder puff on top of his foot and NB is the only shoe we have found that is cut so it can fit him.

We love the kids NB shoes. We ordered them once for our oldest and have kept oprdering them for all our kids because we know the fit. Downside is we can't always get the size we want for a good price (think: $75+ for toddler shoes on amazon). Regardless, when we do find the right size for under $40 we usually get them!

I was told from an online rep on the New Balance website that the arch was substantial; one of the largest arches available in children's shoes. Not true. You can run your hand inside the shoe and barely feel any arch, Disappointing. My child has functional flat feet and he must have an arch. The Velcro is very strong, which I like.

My boys have been wearing NB for a few years. They are well made and wide enough for their wide feet. These new model has a problem it is not easy to open it because it is very strong vinco. The N shape make it harder to open than the old style. These shoes are not cheap. But, it does least so we will still buy it again.

My 14 month old grandson can not wear store bought shoes, even those designed for wide feet. We couldn't even get the velcro on some shoes to touch. These New Balance extra extra wide shoes have solved our problems. He is walking comfortably in shoes that don't squeeze his big little feet.
