Pretty good but very predictable and a bit overdone
I enjoyed the story but the writing lacked creativity. Example: Valentine's use of her name was a complete turn off. I actually had to skip it in almost all the dialogue. It took away from the writing. Also, I'm not sure why the blindfold. I guess he was afraid he'd be recognized but that really wasn't the case so why even introduce it. He's a definite Dom and even though he denies it doesn't change the fact he is. She could have had a bit more of a struggle with the arrangement which would of added to the story. Also it was very predictable as to why he was hiding his identity. It's not poorly written and it has some good sex scenes. I was expecting more to the story but it was a quick read with a HEA. I won't be purchasing the others however.

Loved it!
This was a very hot and steamy read. The characters were fantastic. The storyline was spot on. The twist in the story was nice. The ending was absolutely fantastic.

Promising Premise that Falls Flat
The premise is promising. The first chapter or two is interesting. Unfortunately, "Alpha" falls short of attaining an erotica status I associate with authors like C.D. Reiss. Like many reviewers before me, this book is another version of "Fifty Shades of Grey." It is equally weak, and I am disappointed that I wasted so much time reading it. When I discovered it was the first book in a trilogy, again mimicking its predecessor, I was shocked. One word came to mind: REALLY? Is another book truly needed in this train wreck of a story? Apparently, yes. The storyline continues to get weirder, at least as described by the book summaries. There is no way I will waste money on the next ones to see what happens between Valentine Roth and Kyrie St. Claire-- both their names equally grated on my nerves as I read. The story is difficult to talk about without spoiling the "surprise" twists and turns. Some I saw and others I did not -- the porno sex distracted me from the big reveal at the end. Needless to say, this book reminds everyone that nothing is ever free, and everyone has a price -- Duh! Apparently, Kyrie's price was $120,000 and lifetime security for her mother and brother. Oh yeah-- also an endless supply of mind-blowing sex.If you want something light-hearted with little depth and lots of sex, this is the book for you! I enjoy those types of books myself, but I could not get past the ridiculous premise, narrative holes, and terrible writing. For instance, there was a lot of repetitive points about how Valentine was a god among men; he was stunningly beautiful with his Aryan blue eyes and blonde hair. I just get tired of the reminders, as if the author had nothing new to add to her story. We get it. Valentine is perfection, and Kyrie is lucky to have him. There are some racial undertones that disturbed me as well. The few people of color who were mentioned were either criminals or the housekeeper for our mysterious billionaire. I was uncomfortable with how bodies of color were disposable characters. Class distinctions were emphasized between appropriate poor, like white Kyrie struggling to survive with decent, honest labor, and low-class Mexican thugs who probably survived through illegal activities. The emphasis on class might reflect city life, but I cannot even remember where the story begins. Meanwhile, the housekeeper is a lonely Mexican woman who is so happy to finally have a friend in Kyrie. She praises Kyrie and defends her boss, as any employee would. He is a good man despite his strange tendencies of stalking and ownership. Kyrie falls into a comfortable position of power as an unwitting white savior for Eliza. Most of the supporting characters are inconsequential. There is Harrison, a general jack of all trades kind of employee, and Kyrie's best friend, Layla. Layla intrigued me, and I believed in their friendship. I actually wondered more about Layla and her life choices than I did about Kyrie. The ideas about an alpha male were promising, but they really go nowhere in this book. I am sure Jasinda Wilder saved those juicy tidbits for the later novels. Still, I found myself wanting to analyze the characters with a psychoanalytic lens, especially in terms of Greek mythologies. Ideas of ownership, giving oneself completely to another who takes control from you, is an alluring concept. It leaves the owned in a state of blissful submission. When you do not have to think, someone else thinks for you. It is especially fruitful if this someone else is an individual who you trust to have your best interests at heart. Suddenly, you are granted a life that many wish for but never attain-- a carefree existence. Gone are the daily stresses of having to make difficult choices, many of which become hard life lessons. Instead, one can focus on passion, sex, and other baser needs. Wow! This is so tempting, but I definitely think it can only exist in the fictions of our minds or perhaps if you find yourself with a billionaire with unlimited funds and transportations to take you around the world. The relationship between Kyrie and Valentine was "meh." There was a lot of passion, which eventually leads to love. However, I was not a believer. I did not see either character demonstrate their love through their actions. Valentine does have a pretty way with words, which Kyrie constantly questions: "Who talks like that anyways?" She explains it away because Valentine is British and maybe the British have a certain flare with words. Valentine's language contrasted nicely with Kyrie's vernacular potty mouth. Surprisingly, Valentine puts up with her derogatory language skills despite the fact that numerous characters point out that he does not like people to curse around him. Could this be an example of Valentine's love for Kyrie? Like a proper boyfriend, he accepts her uncouth faults. I kept thinking how much fun Wilder could have with her characters if Valentine started a swear jar for Kyrie. Force her to put a buck in every time she curses, and that will show her who truly owns her.As for the author herself, I do not know a lot about Jasinda Wilder . I did enjoy her afterward. She sounds like a lovely person who really respects her fans and wants to please her readers. Her genuineness, and the desire that I wished I had liked this book for her, bumped the rating up from 1 star to 2 stars. The cover art and presentation of the book, and the later books in the trilogy, are simple but beautiful. I love the splash of color on each cover, especially this dark red. It hearkens to memories of my wedding. My dress had a splash of deep red on the train. In fact, it was the cover art that first drew me in. Bravo with your presentation, Wilder!Read "Alpha" for a jaunty romp. There are not a lot of sexual experimentations, but there are plenty of sex scenes to keep the book bouncing. If you attempt to find depth or a stronger story, you will be sorely disappointed, and not in an achingly good way.

Check it Out!
I do enjoy the occasional romance/smut from time to time. This one definitely did not disappoint (and I plan on reading the others in the series down the road). Honestly, I find it some of the concepts hard to believe and played a little too much on Fifty Shades, but it still took its own twist on things, which was refreshing (blindfold anyone?) I'm still undecided if I'm invested in the love interest, but the MC definitely has her good and bad points. It's a quick read (don't let the page count scare you) and will keep you captivated from beginning to end, and making you want to pick up book #2.

Roth & Kyrie
I loved Roth and Kyrie’s story. It is so very improbable but that makes it even more fun to read. Roth is so dominant and yet he is so careful of Kyrie’s wellbeing. I love that he is so sensitive and attuned to her. He will do anything to take care of her.The whole blindfold thing is rather bizarre but I get that it’s used to build trust. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more books by this author.

Dark romance
**potential plot spoilers**The characterisation is okay, but quite shallow. I didn't care what happens either way because neither lead character were especially compelling. The plotline is thin and based on his stalking her for seven years, for reasons I won't name but her acceptance is ridiculous. The whole 'tell me no and I stop ' but then carries on only to repeat himself after she says no is particularly concerning and raises the question of dubious consent as well as manipulative coercion. If a daughter of mine said no and he carried on you can bet your life I've taught her how to make him stop. The plotline sends a clear although subtle message that it's okay for a woman to give in as long as she says no once. It's all about control and sexual exploitation, it's distasteful in places. There are numerous sex scenes and plenty of swearing. It's not as dark as other books but it's not entirely comfortable reading

Alpha Review
Book reviewTitle: AlphaAuthor: Jasinda WilderGenre: Erotic RomanceRating: *****Review: The opening to Alpha was beautiful we meet Kyrie St. Claire who has just been let go from her job and the sexually harassed by her ex-boss, she is also behind on every bill possible including her rent and her very ill mother's hospital bills when she receives a mysterious check in the mail for $10,000. She doesn't know who sent it the only clues are the P.O. address and company name VR Inc both of which are dead ends. Over the next few month Kyrie receives more checks each with a note spelling "you belong to me" - she is worried about this statement but considering she owes more than she could ever hope to repay she just goes with it. A year after the checks first started arriving a man called Harris turns up on her doorstep to collect her on behalf of his employer who has been sending her the checks. As we approach the 1/4 mark in the novel Kyrie meets her debtor but hasn't yet seen him because she consented to being blindfolded nor does she know his name. While the situation is strange Kyrie knows by agreeing to his terms her family will be provided for and she won't end up destitute. The mysterious man continues to test Kyrie in order to gain her trust so she can gain his and despite his odd manner and requests she finds herself truly wanting him. I like the fact the male lead character and Kyrie`s love interest is nothing more than a voice and a vague description. As we cross the 1/4 mark in the novel we are finally given a name for the mystery man; Roth. We also see the sexual tension building between the pair we are given the briefest of glimpses and hints before the author rips it away in this hot and frustrating game of cat and mouse. As we approach the half way mark in the novel we see the tension and trust building between the pair which is great but I couldn't wait to see some real steamy action. When the level of trust between the two finally reaches a level where the blindfold can be removed Kyrie is awed by this man: Valentine Roth. Kyrie also has the gagging suspicion that she knows Roth from somewhere but can't remember where or when but I have a feeling it will come to her. As cross into the swing half of the novel we see Roth`s and Kyrie`s relationship take on a new dynamic when Kyrie finally allows herself to admit her desire for Roth and to submit more to his obedience request. As we approach the 3/4 mark in the novel we see Roth and Kyrie heading towards the final act of trust: sex. When the both finally give in we are treated to some amazingly hot scenes as Kyrie admits that Valentine owns her and is very quickly falling for him. As we cross into the final section of the novel we not only see Roth in control sexually but he trusts Kyrie enough to give her some degree of control. It's only when Kyrie fully trusts Valentine and is falling in love with him does he decide to tell her the truth, the things he has been hiding from her since the beginning. The ending of Alpha was heart breaking, full of angst, lust and love and I honestly can't wait to get my hands on Beta. Highly recommended.Overall, this novel was written amazingly well with a soft, unique writing style. Even though this book erotic fiction we aren't actually giving a sex scene until the half way point so if you aren't into smut or are new to the genre I highly recommend reading Alpha.

All about nothing
There really is very little to say about this story as there is really nothing in the story. The main character is meant to be female but it is so obviously a man writingIt's just pointless tittle-tattle which never goes anywhere... So we have the narrator telling us:"I could rock a bikini without feeling self-conscious but I wasn't a show off either."Then as the page drages on it changes to:"The underwear I wore was somewhere between lingerie and basic briefs."I really find this hard to view as in anywhere entertaining, there is nothing exciting, nothing entertaining, nothing sexy. In fact I find it hard to imagine why anyone wastes their time writing this stuff so that oothers can then waste their time reading it..

Valentine Roth wow!!!!!
Omg christian grey doesn’t even come close to valentine Roth. Now mr Roth is an alpha alright. Knows what he wants and he sure knows how to make his woman happy.I must admit I was really puzzled when he first came about on the book. I didn’t like his owning and begging but after more reading yeah we all would beg for what he can offer and more haha.Mr Roth doesn’t need a toy roomHe’s got his mansion on top of a high tall building in Manhattan and he has it all from state of the art tech to furniture comforts etcBut he’s missing just that one piece to complete him.Can his alpha side win over a true innocent angel. This book is a must read!!!!!! If your onto hot sexual scenes but done the right way and about pleasing the woman than his own pleasure. Mr Roth is for you.

Disappointed
I love Jacinder Wilder's books usually but this fell so flat for me. I got stuck 30 mins in and couldnt push myself to finish. The guy takes her to him using coercion.. blindfolds her.. and she acts cool with it all. Accepts food and drink from a guy she doesnt know and cannot identify.. while staying at his home few minutes earlier. A place that she doesnt know she is.. and neither does anyone else.Yet hes expecting trust..? And shes considering giving it to him?No sorry.. this is a DNF for me.
