Teak Wood Cutting Board: 18x14x1.25 with Juice Groove (Discontinued)

I've been using a Calphalon bamboo cutting board for almost 9 years now. It's treated me very well until recently when I just realized I was afraid to cut meat on it anymore. After looking around in stores and online, I wanted a new cutting board that was large, durable for everyday cutting since I cook daily, and lets be honest looked and felt expensive without paying an arm and a leg. When the package first arrived you know its a quality product by the packaging alone. There is a very warm note inside from the owners of Sonder Los Angeles and I was super impressed by the extended warranty they offer along with the helpful hints on maintaining your board such as oiling. Something I have never done in the past, but plan to now that I know how! The board is large and makes for a great space, I was able to prepare a meal for my family and still had space left over. The juice groove was functional as a barrier for my veggies so they didn't topple over the edge onto the counter. Something my other board didn't have. AND as the feature I am most looking forward to use...the reversible flat surface for plating meats/cheeses/dips, etc. I love to entertain and my prior Calphalon boards reverse side had stoppers to hold the board from slipping which you definitely knew that was the bottom of the cutting board vs. used as a beautiful display platter. From quick shipment to the beauty of the teak wood and style, I am so far very impressed with my new board and I hope this one last just as long.

This was delivered Tuesday, 3-12-2019. It was a gift for my wife who absolutely loved it. On Friday, 3-15-19, we notice there's a split in the board (photo included in this review). It was never exposed to water except for the initial wash out of the box and has never even left our kitchen island - it's stayed out on display and used maybe twice daily. We do not believe it came damaged like this, as we would have noticed it upon arrival.Don't get me wrong - the board is beautiful but if the wood is split a mere 4 days after it was delivered. What a shame.EDIT: Tiffany, the co-founder of Sonder, reached out to me the same day I posted this review to offer a sincere apology and see how she could make this right. THAT is great customer service! I've bumped up my rating a bit and wanted to express how awesome it is to have sellers that care about product satisfaction. While I still will be returning my board, I hope that others on here have a positive experience with their cutting boards from Sonder.

Wow! My Hudson Cutting Board by Sonder Los Angeles is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! For too many years I've used and have been embarrassed using stained, ugly and fragile cutting boards. Before I took my Hudson Cutting Board out of it's beautifully designed storage box, I could tell I'd purchased a quality product. I didn't have plans to cook that evening, but I couldn't wait to use it! So, I used it to prep a sandwich. The size and weight add to its sturdiness, so the board didn't move around while I used it. It was easy to clean up and I simply displayed it on my counter like the piece of art it is.I'm so glad I purchased this product. I've already thrown out all my other cutting boards. I'm happy to only need the Hudson Cutting Board and I would buy again in a heartbeat. I would l also purchase the beautiful cutting board as a gift whenever the opportunity presents itself.I'm a happy customer!

What a gorgeous cutting board! The perfect size when needing to chop a lot. And I’ve received lots of compliments when used as a serving platter. Will be buying more as gifts for all my friends who like to cook and entertain.

I just received the Hudson Teak cutting board - April 2019 - and it is beautiful. Yes, it is a cutting board but with all things, it needs to be quality and it is. I previously owned several wooden cutting boards but they were recently lost. So, I have been using the thick plastic boards while I searched for a new wooden one. I came across this one in that search. After looking at the other offerings from SonderLA, I decided this was the best fit for me. It has two full sides that can be used for cutting - one with the juice groove and one without. I do a lot of cooking with a lot of ingredients that need cutting so, being able to accommodate those on a single board is a big plus. The attached pics were taking while the board was being oiled; hence the shine and highlight of the board itself. As others have said, the board is nicely packaged with a note from the company founders.

I recently bought a couple of very good knives that work incredibly well (had no idea a knife could make such a difference!), but I became concerned about how my expensive knives would fair on my cheap acrylic cutting boards. After some research, I purchased the Hudson, in part because of the reviews on the company's customer service.. Received my cutting board yesterday, and it is almost too beautiful to use! I had a question about a pinhead-sized hole in the board and e-mailed SonderLA last night. I received a response overnight from Tiffany, assuring me it was a natural part of the wood that would cause no issues; but to be sure, she asked me to register my purchase with them. I am amazed at how responsive the company was. The board is heavy but not too heavy, and I'm sure it will sit securely while in use. Now I just have to be brave enough to mar the surface with my knife!

I'm very happy with my recent purchase from Sonder. I needed to replace my work horse cutting board recently. I went with the Teak board. Its 2 inches smaller than my 20 inch, but thus far that has posed no issue and in fact has made it easier to wash and store.It is a very hard wood, but does show marks after use. I wouldn't trust wood that didn't show cut marks (god knows what a board that doesn't mark would be doing to my knives after all). It cleans up great and dries quickly. I expect it will last for years to come and has been used daily since it arrived.Darker than my previous boards and actually better looking. I also like the idea of supporting local businesses (Los Angeles).
