Desert Fox Hk5006 Fixed Blade Knife;3 Color Options of G10 Handle;Leather Sheath

Whoever designed this, and whoever named this did an outstanding job. I live in or near the desert, so right off it spoke to me, especially the handle color. When it arrived today I was delighted how sharp it was, especially for such a thick blade. It easily sliced the thinnest slices of tomato, and I can shave hairs off my arm with it. It is one of the sharpest knives I've every gotten. By the way this tells me that 9Cr18MoV steel can take a very sharp edge. I don't know about its durability yet. It's hefty and is about the maximum size that I would carry hiking, but it would probably be used more for camping. The ergonomics of the handle is perfect. It is somewhat textured. It seemed like it got a little slippery after I washed and dried the whole knife.On the other hand...The sheath is flimsy and worthless. It is too small to snap the buckle. Looks like they shipped it just to have that box checked. I will have to get a different one. So if you plan on getting this knife, plan on the cost of a new sheath.Update:I bought this 9" sheath by SHEATH Underwear. While this is no doubt a beefy and awesome knife the case leaves something to be desired. The knife is strong and will suit me well for my bushcraft activities. It's a solid piece of workmanship.The case though feel cheap. On mine the snap won't even close due to it is too short. Even if it did close it wouldn't change my mind about how bad the case is. I like the knife enough that I will buy my own case.

Its a nice knife for the money. Takes and holds an edge well. Not as stainless as many stainless knives. Has a large handle which grips very well. The sheath isn't as bad as many would make it out to be. It is a bit thin but so far has held up well. The big deal of the strap not closing has an easy remedy. Heavily wet the strap and pull apart with enough force to stretch the leather until it easily snaps. Let is dry and problem solved. It will stay that way.Having made many leather sheaths myself, I eventually realized that the snap strap should be cut a little short and stretched in this manner or it will stretch too much with time. Maybe they ommit this step at the factory. Who knows. But, it works so give it try if you have one of these.Added. I added a star for 5 stars because this is a great value. The sheath is about the same as a Buck brand sheath. Not high end but certainly servicable. The grip panels are left natural mat for a great grip. The steel has a lot of mass for splitting small pieces of dry wood. The edge holds well and the grip is dead comfortable. There is no choil but one is not needed due to the shape of the grip. Fit is excellent. It is a tall flat grind with micro edge. With a straight edge on the grind, I detect no light under the edge. Cannot be a hollow grind.

This knife is solidly built, fairly sharp,Afew strokes on a strop stick and razor sharp!nice grippy scales,Now all the hype,about sheaths being crap no way on the retaining snap little mink oil on the strap and set overnight to loosen up and fine leather is of good quality, just mink oil it and wipe off !!!!!

Way too big and heavy formy hands, and I wear xl gloves. The sheath does not fit

For the price i was very happy with the knife, the scales are nicely done, the steel is beefy as hell and pretty heavey as you might expect, blade came nice and sharp, no issues with condition on the knife itself. I love the look and simplicity of the knife and im sure it will take quite a beating. The sheath that it comes with is surprisingly nice for the cost but mine had an issue, the strap that goes around the handle was like 1/4 '' too short and wouldn't snap closed - i wanted to make a sheath for the knife anyways so i didn't bother with a replacement so my 5 stars is based on the knife itself. The seller (Daqimen Co. Ltd.) was very responsive to my questions, within 24 hrs on the weekend!

The knife is very well built and extra sharp right out of the box. The handle is comfortable the knife is very well designed and a pleasure to own.

I ordered a second one after examining the first.Perfect condition and I personally think anyone would be hard pressed to find ONE all around knife outdoors and in the camp. Regardless of "budget" status this is a fine tool that won't break the bank.I also have some "snob knives" and my opinion still stands.Bad sheath----BS! It's fine and allows for a molle positioning with the strap that no one seems to knowwhat to do with???The colors are more subdued than in the photo. Must caused a price drop.Quite a bargain now and colors aren't that vivid!9Cr steel---- it's proven very good on a few other of my knives----just sorry it's chinese made.I am avoiding china stuff in most cases but the specs on this knife aren't chinese IMO.Solid value!
