In a charming and delightful tale, based on the Paul Gallico novel, Angela Lansbury wonderfully portrays Mrs. Arris, an honest, hardworking cleaning woman who dreams of the luxuries she does not have. A heart warming movie for the whole family.

on a park bench, Lansbury sits down by herself and cries; you will too
I'm so glad somebody left a review telling me that what was previously only available on VHS was now on DVD - a dinosaur technology replaced by neanderthal tech - yay! no more firing up the VCR and being forced to watch in the TV room. this really shouldn't work because of the iffily approximated accents of the supporting players. sentimental in it's conception. predictable every single second. but when you super load a show with great older actors who've acted their entire lives, it can't not work. when you actually LOVE one of the actors and ridiculously feel like you KNOW HER, you're just floating on this big cloud of sheer escapist pleasure. But really, Morley, Rigg, Shariff, and Lansbury don't have to be embarrassed by their work here. If Die Hard or the Rambo movies are your thing - you should pass on this.

Childhood favorite, now my daughter's favorite too
I fell in love with this video when I was a child. Now my 8 year old daughter loves it too, and we BOTH want Dior dresses. ;) I love that so many good things are in the video - about treating people kindly, about mending relationships, about not judging people by their exterior. It's such a simple, but sweet story. Love it.

Review of Mrs Arris Goes to Paris
Have wanted this DVD for sometime, and was happy to receive it. We first saw it when it was a TV movie and never thought we could own a copy. Unfortunately when we received our DVD in the mail it would only play in our computer, not in our DVD player connected with our television. We are working with the company that sent us the DVD to get this issue resolved, and perhaps will receive another copy that will play in our DVD player. If you've never seen this movie you are missing out on a great and poignant movie.Wonderful from start to finish, and suitable for the whole family to watch.

Not a murder to be found
My husband kept waiting for the body to be found. He type-cast as he admits. Angela Lansbury is terrific and my husband enjoyed the movie as well. NOT a chick-flick.

Uplifting
It’s a good family movie. It’s very well done and the main point is setting a goal and following through with it and not giving up on your dreams. Has great characters and a good message. Another thing I like about it it shows the difference between showing someone kindness and not showing them kindness and Shows the benefits and consequences of those decisions as well

If you're looking for a wonderful movie where no one blows up buildings
What a charming movie! If you're looking for a wonderful movie where no one blows up buildings, this is the one. LOL.... It is so great as Angela Landsbury's character is so charming and in need of a dress... A designer's dress. She has never owned anything so beautiful in her life and is determined to own one before she dies. She sees two beautiful dresses in the lady's house she works for, and admired the threads and amazing craftsmanship of such fine material...... Get this movie too see if Mrs. Arris gets her beautiful dress, that she travels all the way to Paris for.

Angela Lansbury is Charming as Mrs. 'Arris
Mrs 'arris Goes to Paris is a charming little film staring Angela Lansbury in the title role as a working class housekeeper from London who dreams of travelling to Paris and purchasing a Dior dress after seeing one hanging up in her employers room. She saves up for three years and when the time finally arrives, Mrs. 'arris sets off to Paris in hope that she will be there and back within the day coming back with the dress she has longed after for so many years. However, as she soon finds out, the fashion world of Paris is far from her humble London home but she keeps her head high and never lets go of her dreams.Mrs. 'arris is a wonderfully warm character played with so much affection by the charming Angela Lansbury. The film is one of hope and happiness and Lansbury was perfectly cast as a woman who whilst searching for her own dreams, helps other peoples dreams come true as well. The film is perfect to watch on a Sunday afternoon which will leave you smiling and thinking about making your own dreams come true as well.

A Trip Well Worth Taking!
Thoroughly enjoyable old-fashioned style film about a lowly London charwoman (Angela Lansbury), who dreams of owning her own Dior dress. Having scrimped and saved, she travels to Paris where an assortment of people, including delightful Diana Rigg and an elegant Marquis, Omar Sharif, in one of his best latter-day performances, see to it that Mrs 'Arris dream does come true despite some obstacles. Beautifully cast and performed, and utterly charming. Originally made for television. Acceptable picture quality for this release by Pegasus.

Original is being remade and improved as a comedy
This was a nice film but I think the remake is going to be funnier. Good picture and sound. Good cast.

An amazing classic
When I came across this film advertised I was Intrigued by the title but not hopeful but when I came to watch It I was enchanted by It. We seem to have lost the art of saving up for things and the satisfaction afforded when the Item Is In our grasp. Mrs Arris was so focused on her dream dress she was unstoppable. A real touch of the old days In this film .essentially English In It's appeal I would recomend this for young and old alike.

Mrs 'Arris goes to Paris
Charming, easy to watch, Sunday afternoon film with the feel-good factor. and definitely appealing to an older generation able to relate to the time. Probably a younger demographic would also be entertained. I had read the book donkey's years ago and was thrilled to see the film - and bought another copy for a friend.
