Dear Photograph

I don't know how anyone could give this book less than 5 stars. This book is amazing. I have yet to get through the whole book, I start crying nearly every time I crack it open. It captures so much. The biggest thing I took away from this book is that life is so short and fragile and we need to hold onto our memories for dear life and not let go. It takes me back to being a kid and being annoyed when my parents took pictures and made us pose. This book captures all of that. It is worth every penny. I plan to give this book to several people as a gift. Looking at this book is truly a gift. I have loved every page I have read so far. Truly amazing.

The idea of the book itself is truly stunning. First I heard about the website, visited it and... Well, I cried for the whole evening because of those wonderful touching and really amazing stories there were there.After that I decided to purchashe the book as a gift to my beloved one for our anniversary.Some will say that you don't need a book if there is Internet, but this way, printed on paper (of a very well quality I should say) you can always keep it in a place that is closer to your heart than your laptop: on your bookshelf.And now I'm glad because even if the web-site disappears some day I shall be able to keep those stories, pictures and memories of people that I shall never meet but do understand.A must for anyone. Well, really.

It arrived by the due date. I bought a book for my son and one for myself. We both absolutely love the book. It is so amazing and beautiful and has made us look through photographs and see if we can do a dear photograph or two ourselves. Thank y'all so much. I would highly recommend this book to everyone I know. I may buy some more copies and give them for birthday or Christmas gifts.

Taylor Jones' "Dear Photograph" is based on his Website, on which people are encouraged to take a photo from their past to its place in the present and photograph the old against the new-- preferably with their thumb in the picture. I find the concept fascinating, and the execution of the beautiful photographs in the book combined with the descriptions of what we are seeing is just breath-taking. Plan to spend a long time perusing this volume, and expect to be inspired to produce some "Dear Photograph" submissions of your own.

This is actually a rather small in size book. Some of the pictures take up two pages, and - quite truthfully - just aren't that interesting. I did find some of the matching of some of the pictures from the old to the new very good. I wish the book had concentrated more on this instead of the stories behind the pictures. The "author" stated she had received thousands of pictures, but I'm uncertain as to why the criteria seems to be missing loved ones. Surely there are pictures of pets, favorite teen hang-outs, and such. But these seem to be missing. The book is basically a "coffee table" book, and not one that I would place on top.

Such a wonderful photography book ! Timeless, nostalgic, emotional.. there's just something about holding the book in it's physical form that makes the photos more captivating ..

I love dear photograph, its a beautiful and artistic way of remembering days past, while celebrating the present .

This wonderful book takes you back to an earlier time. The photographer was very clever in how he placed a current picture in the exact location of an old photograph. The thoughts that were expressed along with the photographs were poignant.

This book by Taylor Jones contains a simple idea which touches the heart. We all have hidden phsychological experiences, good and bad and it can take images such as the ones contained within this lovely compilation of the worlds inhabitants to remind us of our vulnerabilities.

Excellent book fantastic idea

Amazing book. Just two minutes of looking through this will transport you through a million memories of you're own life. Don't be surprised if you find yourself shedding a tear.
