More than just sexual healing
I found the audio very helpful in working with sexual trauma survivors as well as other trauma victims. In my work as a psychotherapist, I have found that many people who have experienced some form of trauma, physical or emotional, are not very aware of or connected to their bodies. This audio offers a step by step gentle way of helping people become "re-embodied". The exercises pay careful attention to pacing and boundaries in order to avoid overwhelm .I hope to use it with clients who have developmental as well as sexual trauma.

I love his warm
Peter Levine has created a high quality product once again. I love his warm, nurturing voice and easy-to-understand teachings and practices. For those of you who don't know, Peter is considered a master in the field of healing trauma. I'm a psychotherapist and I shared part of the CD with a client today who experienced sexual abuse as a child. She liked it a lot, and wants to listen to more of the CD next visit.

Sexual Healing
I bought this for a family member when he started to remember some things that had happened to him as a child. I have known so, so many people who have been hurt sexualy either from someone they new or a stranger. I was with him on a road trip as he listened to the whole thing. There were some really good things I even gained from it, especially at the end. The last 2-3 segments had some interesting things to say about the kinds of conversations that arise with just raising children as they work out the way they discover attraction through thier parents at an early age. The author talked about how to find ways to speak to those signifigant moments in a child's unfoldment supportively, and in a healthy way. As for my friend, he found them useful yet rudimentary. He felt the author could have dealved deeper. Mind you, that even the author talked about not using just the CDs, but that some kind of therapy was neccessary. I too agree, having worked amongst people who discover this and then go forward to do deeper work. The CDs give you a starting point to begin navigating such stormy waters that can often leave one feeling very alone! People who care about you, won't encourage you to bury it, to forget, but to work out the anger with support in a safe and healthy way. Those feelings of betrayal are soooo powerful, along with not feeling safe! There is no hurry, Gentle steps beloved soul, gentle.

Spot on…
This book was so helpful and informative as someone who has gone through a violation of sexual boundaries early on in my life. I have read many forms of literature pertaining to this topic and this has in essence been the most helpful and spot on reflection of my experience and the most helpful path to healing. Thank you!

I'm finding this CD enormously helpful. Although the stated topic is sexual healing, anyone traumatised by anything could potentially resonate with what's being said. Peter Levine is an accomplished teacher. His explanations of the causes of PTSD and his suggested physical exercises are both great. Even if you're too ill with PTSD (and resultant other illnesses) to actually do the exercises, imagining you're doing them seems to work just as well. When I first discovered Peter Levine through his book In an Unspoken Voice, I felt his ideas were actually saving my life. I'd known for a long time that I had certain issues resulting from a string of profound and various traumas dating back to early childhood. Throughout my reading of Peter's intelligent, incisive, compassionate writing, I diagnosed myself with PTSD, gasping in recognition at every page: highlighting particular sentences, stopping to applaud, then going ever deeper into the text and myself. Previously, in common with many others, I'd been misled to believe PTSD was some kind of mental aberration experienced only by the weak and blameworthy. It's so very sad that many are still suffering from this appalling misunderstanding, engaged in talking therapies which can actually re-traumatise them, while having little or no positive impact on the underlying causes of their condition. To discover the truth that PTSD is a physical injury to the central nervous system caused by the undischarged energy of an interrupted survival instinct is to have my hope of recovery ignited and constantly fed. I do need to re-emphasise Peter's 'health warning' about the work. It's helpful to have some support from friends and/or family - professional too, if necessary. And I've learned to take things slowly and respectfully, ever mindful of the incredible intelligence and courage of my body on my healing journey. I'm learning a new language, that of my "felt sense" and am not yet completely bilingual. I hope you enjoy this CD as much as I do and that the word gets out about the reality of PTSD, so more and more people can find inspiration and recovery from this most debilitating injury.
