Shimano CS-HG200 7-Gang-Kassette

slim original part, perfect fit, a bit complicated for the 1st time installer, needs a special set of sockets & technique, removal of a collar, then installed in the keyway. Was a fun thing to figure out.

I was replacing 20+ years old 7-speed Shimano cassette. The old cassette was Made in Japan and still after all the years looks very noble next to the younger sister cheaply manufactured in China. All rings and spacers (except for the last one) are rivetted together as a single piece and the spacers feel like made out of plastic.Seven-speed cassettes are out of fashion so all you can get is entry level model.Works fine - just don't expect miracles for what you are paying. Still good value for the money.

Due to wear on my stock cassette from cannondale, I needed a new rear cassette. You can avoid that by brushing and cleaning / lubricating better than I do, but you need to replace these maybe every 12-18 months of heavy 20-50 mile per day riding 5-7 days a week anyway really. These components can last a long time but the more you weigh, dirt roads and debris even on main roadways eventually take their toll. The coating on this is good, the spacing for dirt in the cogs. You can clean those hole areas with an old spoke or something like that you an bend and poke thought those areas as well.

I bought this for my e-bike, I used the Befang BBS02 motor kit @ 52 volts and the cheap cassettes from my local bike shop couldn't handle the torque because of cheaper metal I guess and the sprocket teeth would very quickly wear out and the chain would skip over the teeth instead of turning the wheel.No problems with this cassette so far.

My OEM cassette failed in 3rd and 4th gear, wearing out, this fit exactly and made those gears useable again.

I like Shimano a lot and their parts are solid. I have tried a couple other (cheaper) brands and nothing has stood up to Shimano. I have never had a chain outlast a Shimano cassette. They are a good value!
