I am in LOVE! I have a thing for chimes and gongs--and I'm picky about the ones I buy. This is one of my all-time favorites. It is very well-made, the wood and metal are gorgeous, and the sound of the gong is incredibly soothing.I actually took down all of my other chimes just so I can hear this one more--the sound is very (very) subtle--if you're not paying attention, you might just miss it. When you have mature trees and the wind is blowing, between the trees sounding like an ocean and this gong making its low-toned hum--just, wow. I always love looking for gifts for other people, and I think I'm moving this to my top five list...

Loved this gong and its tone. We ring it all the time when entering the house and leaving our fay behind.

This gong is great. I would say it sounds MUCH louder than in the sample video...I'm on one side of a 10,000 sq ft office and it definitely annoys people on the other side. Very nice, rich sound as well. You can use this gong to alert people at your office that it's time for yoga or mediation, or to signal the beginning of a kung fu fight to the death, or you can use this gong when the fight is over and guards must be summoned to drag the loser's corpse away. Great all-around gong!

The gong has a very nice tone to it when rung. With it's 10 inch size, the tone is not very deep, but it's not very high either. Like any gong, when rung it sounds a primary tome with upper and lower harmonics. I think a smaller gong would sound too much like a toy, so we are happy with the size and sound. It gets attention when rung!The curved hanger is also quite lovely and adds to the aesthetics. This hanger has a slot cut into it that holds the ringer right next to the gong- very convenient.I have only one small gripe- the hanger does not include a GOOD way to hang from a wall or ceiling. As shown in the diagram, you can hang it from a single point but the downside is that when hung in this manner the gong will twist around when rung. Better to secure it at two points so it stays hung where desired without twisting. I went to the hardware store and got two small eye bolts to solve the problem, but those should have been included in the package.

It was much smaller than expected .

The gong is lovely, hand-hammered, and works both inside & outside - seems smaller than I measured - the "plate" is 9 3/4" diameter. Semi-matte brass in color - not overtly shiny. You'll find yourself tapping it as you leave for the day and when you return.Only concern I see is the wacky price changes - I bought at $64, now it's listed at $43, and I've see it elsewhere for over $130. Do your research and try to catch the best price available. Amazon does seem to have the best price of anywhere.
