Works with my alarm panel
I needed to replace the battery on my alarm panel with Protection One, now Brinks and found the right fit. Easy to install, affordable and now we don’t have to hear the annoying alert.

Perfect Fit For Our Security System! Although System is Not Great!
We have had our system for several years now. The system that this battery fits is branded under several different names including Vivint and ADT. It’s basically the same system, just different companies that used these models had their own name printed on the front of the plastic housing. We originally had an older system that is wired into the house and it has the door and window style contacts which are recessed into the door trim and window trim throughout the house. It also has two motion sensors that are located inside the house that cover all of the interior except for the master bedroom. Overall the system is just okay in my opinion as it has had other issues since we had it installed. Most importantly the issues are with the installation and the Zwave feature that our model has, but it is very expensive to use with the security system. It’s primarily why we devicided to install the system in the first place, but the salesperson mislead us on the whole use and cost associated with this system being a Zwave controller and a security system. We have had issues with the main battery pack that is in the old model housing when the power is out and the battery starts to get weak. It makes the same irritating beeping noise as this one does. I honestly had no idea that the master unit had a battery in it. When we started hearing the irritating noise and the power had not been out for several months, I started to worry that the larger battery pack, which I have had to change once , had stopped charging. I looked at the screen and saw it said something like “keypad battery is low or panel battery is low..”, so luckily we keep the instructions on everything we have bought or installed in a large booklet and it is the best thing we have ever done to help us with issues that arise on various products.I looked through the notebook and found that there is indeed a battery pack located in the panel and the troubleshooting section said that the message required the battery pack inside the panel itself to be replaced by a factory certified representative. Well, the alarm company has changed hands three times since we initially had this unit installed. I have to always remove the panel face when our power goes out and it doesn’t come back on for more than about 30 minutes. Otherwise it keeps beeping for hours and it is maddening after about 20 minutes. I basically just remove the speaker wire and it shuts the sound off. I thought that it was going to be impossible to find a replacement battery pack, but I found one that was like 5 miles away from our house. I still ordered it through Amazon as I would rather deal with Amazon than the 3rd party seller on my purchases. So far it’s been fine, the screen is actually brighter than it looked when the battery decided to stop charging. I don’t know how long the new battery will last, but it seems to be exactly what I needed and it was much easier and no doubt cheaper than buying one from the current security provider and having to wait for them to get the battery and charge another fee to install the new battery pack.We are currently under Honeywell as our security company and when they want us to renew our contract, I’m going to have them do an upgrade to the system and install a new panel and replace some of the other things that I think are not going to work much longer. We have had to have the screen on this system replaced two times as it gets to where it needs to be calibrated. Instead of hitting the 1, 2, or 3, it’s like you’re hitting the 4, 5, and the 6. This has happened twice now and they wanted to charge us a lot of money to replace the screen, but after telling them that I don’t have any problem with getting a different company to monitor the system as we pay for a year of monitoring upfront. They had a new screen out the next day. It’s just terrible that these companies are being greedy and we have never had any false alarms that the police has shown up or complained about anything else, but they don’t have a problem trying to make you pay for the system that they should be responsible for repairing if it has problems with the equipment.I will update this if the battery pack goes south in the next few months, but our old battery pack had 2012 on the battery pack, so I guess we have had the system for about 12yrs. Originally we bought this system because it has the ability to run Zwave switches and other Zwave devices that we have a house full of. The problem was that the company representative that talked us into this system said that since the switches and a few plugs were already installed, they didn’t have to replace them and because I had a master electricians license, they would not require any of the switches to be replaced with their own switches. Ours are the GE brand of Zwave switches and the two automated locks for the doors are Schlage. The salesman said that it would not be an issue, but there was a monthly fee for adding each switch. It was going to cost about $1.50 a switch per month. But he failed to tell us that three way switches and four way switches would cost per switch even though only one of the switches is the main switch. Then after the system was installed, the installation went smoothly, but the installer informed us that it we wanted to control our smart switches, plugs , and outlets, they would need to be replaced by thief switches and their electrician. I was absolutely livid and I had to leave the room to keep from telling him to take the system out of the house. I decided to buy a separate controller and it is incredible and does several other home automation protocols. It works if the internet connection is down and the app to control everything is free the first year and then $69.00 annually for the things we use the automation system for. Another issue was that the installers had to put a wireless connection in the old system to make it work with the control panel. Instead of using one of the several knockout points on the box, they just ran the wires out the door and installed it in a unprofessional manner. I didn’t notice it for a long time, but you can no longer lock the old box and it was just done very poorly.

Worked out well at a replacement battery in our 2GIG GC2 alarm system panel
Used this as a replacement battery in a 2GIG GC2 alarm system panel. The battery was easy to install (remember to un-power the alarm AC prior to installing) and properly fit into the space in the alarm panel. The connector lead was the correct length for easy connection to the PCB board inside the alarm.

Abode Gateway solution
Just what was needed to replace a worn out battery. The form factor is not identical to the OEM battery but it will squeeze into the case. Resolved the nagging battery alert and restored normal operation.
