This is not a reducer but an expander turned upside down. There is no way for this flange, used as a reducer, to hold the weight of the pipe above it (unless the pipe above it is wider than the narrow end of the flange (which would end up with creosote running out of the joint). In the end my choice came down to either driling holes in it and adding bolts to hold the stove pipe, or welding the stove pipe, above it, onto the flange. I found a skilled welder who could weld this thin stainless steel to the steel of the stove pipe. This allowed me to use this flange as reducer.
