Not weatherproof, doesn't fit older winches
I couldn't use this at first, because it is NOT plug-and-play with my older winch. This unit has a screw-on 4-pin connector, and my unit had a snap-in 3-pin connector.I'm having to spend another $70 to buy a conversion box (and new hand control) so that my installation is compatible with this unit. Milemarker 93-50014.The electronics box is NOT sealed, and the tech support guy said NOT to install it permanently; it's meant to be plugged and unplugged with each use. Oh well.At least the engineering is such that either the hand-control or the wireless control can be used. Always nice to have a backup.I got all the parts and installed everything, and I must say it's a joy to use a wireless control. I don't know if I would have started the process knowing it would cost $200 in the end, but I'm now glad I have it.The control box has a nice little magnet on the back - - after you plug it in, you can just stick it on the hood or bumper or whatever works best. Range seems to be fine - - after all, you're not going very far when you're winching.

Works great, but the pigtail wires don't match the instructions
The remote works great, once I figured out how to wire it to my 20 year old hydraulic winch, and the pigtail wires don't match the schematic in the instructions, the red wire is ground? Not what you would expect for automotive wiring.

Expensive, burned up.
Used for a few frustrating months, looks like it got moisture in it, fried the unit. Never really did work right, jerky operation, special batteries, not plug and play, had to wire it internally to my winch. Bottom line, was going to replace it with the same thing 100 plus dollars told myself NO! Bought a different one for 16.00!! and works like a dream, much better than this one ever did. Don't bother, save some money.
