I highly recommend it. It is better and more informative than ...
I have used the knowledge in this book for years both for myself and to help friends. Anyone interested in learning about the miracles herbs can add to your life, I highly recommend it. It is better and more informative than any herbal book I have found. Dr. Taylor even lists the medical studies that have been done in field of medicine and pharmaceutical field on these herbs so you can study the results. She used to sell the herbs in this book, but unfortunately, the FDA shut her store down. Like in Europe, too many people were turning to herbs instead of over the counter meds put out by pharmaceutical companies and they took exception to it cutting in on their profits. Now in Europe, they have to get a prescription for the herbs they want and they come from their pharmaceutical companies.

This Book Is An Absolute Must
This book was recommended by a fellow healthseeker and I can' t thank him enough. I am familiar with a number of herbs used by natives in the Amazon Rainforest, but this book encompasses so much more and is in so much more detail. It's an absolute "must" for someone wanting/needing to avoid the pharmaceutical poisons out there. I'm a two-time cancer survivor and am constantly searching for "alternatives" to those poisons in order to maintain my health. This is a marvelous reference and needs to be in the hands of everyone who has similar concerns about what we're being "fed" by medical professionals. Dr Taylor also has a line of products under "Raintree Nutrition". Read this book and keep yourself informed. You may need to do a real search to find a copy in good condition at a reasonable price. However, it's worth every dollar that you spend.

Awesome!
Wow! A must have if you prefer to seek your own remedies instead of going to the doctor, (who might know less than you after you read this book). I was hesitant at first to buy this book because I wanted to learn about herbs that I can get and use, but I did find suppliers in a short time for most of the herbs I was interested in. It is also good to learn that other peoples/cultures that do not have access to the american pharmaceutical industry do have their own answers for their ailments, and those people do just fine. The book is extremely well organized.I hope someday this author does an updated version, with all the latest research to complement the research results given in this version.

A very big book full of knowledge!
This is such an awesome book. For years I have followed Leslie taylors work on rain-tree.com and have really enjoyed her plant database (near bottom of page on her site). I am so glad to see the info in the book is pretty much the same that is in the book plus much more! This book is big and tells almost every use of amazon plants to treat just about every kind of medical condition. I would love to seen pictures in this book for each plant, that is it's only down fall, But still is a great study guide for those who want to learn and study their plants, and have internet access to see hundreds of images for the plants they are looking for. Just search online for each plant by name or go to google and then click images. Not the best way of doing it since sometimes shows wrong plant, but the ones you see the most are usually the right plant, you can continue from their to learn more, like scientific name, etc.

This book has probably helped many lives. Here is a woman who went into the jungles and dedicated her life to find out how they cured and healed diseases. Here is the "amazon", I mean "amazing" thing (lol), We have access to these products, use them and be well. When the FDA cracked down on her and said you cannot state the curing properties of herbs and sell the herbs too, as opposed to keeping her income and selling products, she choose instead to impart all her knowledge to the world and forsake the profits from selling her own products. She felt it was more important to give away all her knowledge. A hard cover book is priceless. It is a reference book you go back to many times. And for us "baby boomers" we are apt to believe the internet could possibly go down for a while or information gets scrubbed, but you have what you need in a book. Books "not too long ago" were in fashion. Her website is rain-tree.com. Look at that first and get to the part of the herbal treatments.Best wishes,Rachelle Rover

Excellent book on Rain-forest Herbs
Herbs are my second choice for healing. (My first choice is good food) This book is reasonably well written and the information is correct as far as my knowledge goes. If you know little about Rain-forest Herbs this is the book to get. I know from personal experience some of these herbs work! The one site that sold many of these herbs was shut down.

Excellent Book on the Subject.
I am an herbalist who was looking for a good book on Rain Forest Herbs without all the hype that had a least some science it in to complement information about traditional uses. Too many herbal books have either no science behind them or have such reductionist science based on faulty studies and assumptions that the information is usless. I often suspect that hype about the use of such herbs as Maca root is overblown and I needed factual information from a reliable source. I bought this book sight unseen based on some of the reviews and I was not disapointed. It combines traditional use with scientific studies and lots of information about each herb. Naturopathic Physician author Leslie Taylor needs to be congratulated for her contribution to the growing knowledge about Rain Forest Herbs: not only their uses but their preservation instead of exploitation.
