I'm not sure what to think of this product. To start off, the lid doesn't set on the top of the bowl. For some reason it's smaller, and it sits halfway into the bowl. Since getting it today, I've experimented with first popping 2 tablespoons of popcorn, then with 1/4 cup of the kernels and I used different amounts of avocado oil with each. Here's what I've found so far:1) I'm not understanding why the lid fits so oddly.2) It needs VERY little, if any oil, and avocado oil is a little too heavy (as would be olive oil). I'd recommend either vegetable, canola or grapeseed oil.3) It seems as though each tablespoon of kernels pops about one cup of edible popcorn.4) The end result is the same, no matter if you use the smaller or the larger amount of kernels. I didn't try even more, but I soon will and I'll update then. Using the 1/4 cup, the kernels popped right up to the level where the lid rests (halfway into the bowl). Basically, this popper makes a single serving.5) The directions state to use one tablespoon of oil and two tablespoons of popcorn. Really, the oil isn't necessary, but I think just barely coating the kernels helps to evenly pop most of them (without burning them).6) Honestly, I've had the exact results using a brown paper bag (the dollar store stocks them), but if you're a popcorn fiend this popcorn bowl would be very handy to have.7) Whether you use this or a paper bag, it's much better for your health than the store bought microwave popcorn (where the foilportion of the packet contains cancer causing chemicals.This is what made the best finished product:Coat (stir) 1/4 cup popcorn with one TEASPOON vegetable oil in popcorn bowl. Place lid onto the bowl and microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes, until the popping slows to every other second. I LOVE the sweet and saltiness of kettle corn. It didn't work making it in bowl, but after topping my popped corn with a small amount of butter and salt, I sprinkled a little bit of confectioners sugar on it...YUMMY!Lastly, I use reviews myself to assist me when purchasing just about, well everything. I was skeptical about whether this would actually work and somewhat skeptical that if it actually worked, this would do nothing but aid and abet in my irrational love for popcorn, which I keep in check by forcing myself to pop the kernels over the stove in a pan. However, some brief boredom and impulse internet buying made me cave. I didn’t really follow any directions. I put about a half a cup of kernels and tablespoon of coconut oil in the contraption, stuck it in the microwave and timed it based on the popping sound. When the frequency of the popping started to die down I removed the contraption from the microwave and viola la - perfectly popped popcorn. I loved it so much I gave it as a white elephant with truffle sea salt and everyone was fighting over it.

I have had electric hot air, oil based and stove top popper all good depending on your choice. This by far is as good if not the best over past choices. Compact easy to use an a great bowl of popcorn. I melt add salt and let it pop to perfection. Tried olive oil and coconut oil love with salt well added (stir) than add kernels and what you get is movie house results! I was given one as gift, I bought this to have two. Can serve many at a party with fresh cooked popcorn!

I love this popper, the popcorn tasted so good even before adding anything to it. I have used it quite a bit and have only slightly burnt one batch, I will buy one or two more because it does get hot if you are popping more than 2 batches (hot pads) are handy, but it would be nice to have one ready to go in right after one is taken out for buttering and salting purposes but still that is not really a big problem. I love the lid it keeps popcorn from going all over the microwave, It came on time as promised. I bought one for my son for his birthday with a variety of popcorn flavors and different types popcorns to try for his birthday and he loved it.

Easy to use, easy to clean! There are endless options of which fats to use, if any, and what toppings to add. I've found half butter and half coconut oil with salt, pepper, and nut yeast all mixed in at the beginning makes the perfect bowl IMO. Beyond having better control on what is being added, it's nice to know that this is far more environmentally sound than traditional single serve bags. Clean up is easier than traditional stove top method. Makes enough for 2-3 servings.

Sent this as a gift and it was well received - it makes great popcorn, cleans up easily and takes very little space (which is a big deal for tiny kitchens - it's hard to find room for a traditional popcorn maker when space is at a premium. My little grandson now gets fresh popcorn for his snacks - he loves the popcorn and we love that it's a healthier snack than most things (at least most things that his little 4 year old taste buds will consider, lol). I recommend a tiny bit of canola oil. Orville Redenbacker yellow popcorn and a sprinkle of flavored popcorn salt!

Makes great popcorn with out having all the oil for regular style poppers and you know what's in it unlike the microwave bag popcorn

Although I am aware that many phony reviews are posted on Amazon, I was shocked that such a highly rated product would be so disappointing. The instructions are useless and the product does not work as advertised or shown in the pictures. The alleged "expert help" from Amazon in trying to use this product turned out to be a nice, but inept Filipino who had never read about the product before and just wasted my time.
