Stiff Boning
I used this to make a tray with sides for my sewing room. It was easy to use and the sewing machine had no trouble with it. I pulled the boning out a little and cut off a small amount so that I could sew through the cloth covering instead of the boning. I don't think a needle would go through the boning. It worked perfectly for me.

Name brand makes a difference!
The drizts brand is far easier to work with than generic. I would recommend for any lingerie or costume projects.

Great boning!
Great boning, good price! This was exactly what I needed for a project and was happy to find it on amazon which meant I didn't have to fight the crowds and drive to a store a few towns away. Plus the price was very comparable to what I could find in-store.The boning was easy to use and the casing was very easy to sew through (making sure to avoid the boning). I used normal scissors to cut the boning and had no issues. Great product!

Great product!
Great product to have in stock for sewing costumes and dresses, but I find that I have to cut the boning separately from the casing b/c I need the casing to be long enough to tack the ends closed (and therefore longer than the boning itself). Rather hard to do in a roll, but the roll is the best for custom lengths of boning.

I am glad I bought this instead of expensive flat steel boning
I didn't think that this boning would be strong enough to hold up a strapless heavy gown but it is! I am glad I bought this instead of expensive flat steel boning. I know many people suggest to not use this boning in curves but I used it in the side seams for my gown and it worked wonderfully. I have a very small waist and large bust so the it was quiet a pronounced curb. When applying the casing i suggest using the zipper foot.

Yes
Pretty strong and nice fabric around it, easily sewn into what I needed it for and works well.

Used in a prom dress that won't be worn due to Covid-19
I bought this for my granddaughter to use in her prom dress. She worked so hard on it & it turned out beautiful. It's so sad that she won't get to wear the dress unless for another occasion.

Problem with the width
I have never used boning in a garment before. I ordered 1/4" boning, as the pattern directed. I got the package marked 1/4" boning, and it is very nice -- except for one major flaw -- it is actually 1/2" wide. The boning itself is 1/4" wide, but it is encased in fabric, making the total 1/2" wide. My pattern calls for it to be inserted in a 3/8" placket at the bodice seams -- obviously something 1/2" wide will not slide in there.Fortunately for me, I tried it in only one seam, and discovered the problem. I solved it by sewing the boning right next to the seam with a zipper foot, and then lapping the seam allowance over the boning and sewing the other side, also using the zipper foot. It worked well, and the product is actually very nice -- I just wish the dimensions were clearly stated in the product description and on the packaging.I did appreciate the instructions to place the curve towards the body. I may not have done that otherwise.
