Love these grinders
Years ago I found the little plastic grinders in my first photo. I thought they were neat and bought them cheap. After using them I liked them so much I began looking for more. At that time, there were few and they were a bit expensive. Years later after I got Amazon prime, I finally got tired of having to fill the little plastic ones after every 2 meals and searched for new ones. I originally bought another pair that had a window in the side. Those were not of good quality and he’d rust marks on them after one washing. I returned them before I even got to use them. This set is great. I took them apart and ran them in my dishwasher to make sure they were clean before I put salt and pepper in them. They passed that test as they did not rust. Some people have complained that they are hard to use with one hand and the salt can be. There are 2 reasons why. Number one is in my opinion a small design flaw. On the grinding rod, there is a smooth spot that breaks up the knurled part that grinds. I believe if this was just all solid knurling that it would be a little easier but the main reason is when it sits, the salt settles into those smooth parts of the grinder and make it hard to press. The pepper is easier to use one handed than the salt because the peppercorns are larger and softer than the salt. I originally thought that the larger the rocks of salt, the easier it will be to use as there will not be as much packed against the grinder rod. This is not the case. I did however find a very nice fix for this. Before you use the grinder, turn it upside down and then right side up or shake it. This loosens up the contents so the grinder is easier to use. It also helps if you depress the grinder while it’s upside down and continue to hold it while you turn it right side up. Either way helps a lot. These pump grinders are good quality stainless steel and have an “S” and a “P” engraved on the top so you know which one is which. As you can see in my picture, I added a red o-ring to the bottom on the salt and a black o-ring to the bottom of the pepper so I know which one is which at a glance. Works wonderfully.

Great for one-handed seasoning
These work well and having the base stand is nice because they would otherwise get easily knocked over. I saw reviews saying the salt can be harder to use if the crystals used aren't big enough but oddly I found the pepper to be the one that is a little tougher. Note that you cannot adjust the ground size like full-sized grinders but otherwise works great for when you only have one hand free to season with.

Simple and sleek, easy to use, not adjustable.
I have a set of trusty adjustable ceramic burr mills that I have had for serveral years from another vendor. The only reason why I was in the market for new mills was because I wanted the option of using them with one-hand, which can be handy when working with raw meats. I did not want any complicated electric gizmo that would likely break and at a costly premium.PERFORMANCE (4/5):I have used these for a couple of days and I love how sleek and simple these are to use. I was very particular about ensuring I had a window to keep track on the contents level, but avoided the other models where the plastic assembly was threaded and was the main component holding the entire mill together (there were some negative reviews I saw about durability of the plastic threads). This gives you the best of both worlds and I can't imagine this really breaking because of the window. Time will tell regarding the spring action itself and I will revisit this review if that fails. It sometimes does take a little force to actuate the pepper grinderQUALITY (4/5):They appear to be reasonably good quality and solid. There was some residue, perhaps machining oil, on one of the mills but was easily removed with a wet paper towel. I also noticed when opening and closing the chamber that the threading wasn't exactly the smoothest and could be improved. You don't have to open it often, so probably not a big deal, but if you cook and season a lot you may run into this since the chamber isn't that large. The threads may also smooth out over time so I'm not too concerned about this and is just a first impression observation. The plastic holder is of appropriate weight and has rubber feet to keep it from sliding around.VALUE (4/5):There are cheaper options available. There are no plastic parts aside from the window and the holder. I'm judging value based on my initial perception that the materials used here will last over time, but this rating could change if they don't end up meeting that expectation. Only time will tell, but initially these seem like a slightly above average value.ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:One detail I didn't realize when I purchased these--the grind coarsness/fineness is not adjustable. Maybe I should have realized this at first, but I think some of the product details could be a little bit more clear about this. Once you understand how the mechanism works, you sort of understand why these are not adjustable. You effectively have an opening at the bottom that can be unthreaded to allow you to refill the mill. That opening is just a little bit larger than a textured rod that moves up and down when you depress the spring loaded "button" at the top of the mill. Whatever you have loaded in the mill is effectively ground by this motion, but because you can't really adjust the size of the opening you are basically stuck with one coarseness. The good news is that for most of my cooking/seasoning purposes the coarsness acheived for both salt and pepper are satisfactory. I'm more particular about having the adjustability of my pepper because it will really affect how that spice is delivered since pepper doesn't really dissolve like salt. The coarsness of the salt really dictates the distribution of that saltiness, but may not be a big deal if you are cooking something very fluid, like a soup, where the salt crystals will be dissolved quite a bit. However, having adjustability for salt coarseness would be nice for seasoning meats before a sear. I will end up keeping my burr mills for optionality as well as my salt cellar that usually has kosher if I need larger flakes. I keep Himalayan in this mill since it is nice and mild and great as a finishing salt.I have included photos of the grinded salt and pepper to give you a better idea of what to expect.

Has a good size for grinding even though its not adjustable.
I just wanted something smaller than the larger twist grinders so it fits on a desk. The stand is nice for holding on to the grinders. The only down side, sometimes it will get stuck and you have to give it a little slap on the plunger to get it to go because of how its designed when it grinds (for me its usually the salt that gets stuck). Im thinking if you have smaller salt it wouldnt get stuck, but its still nothing to take a star off for.

It is what you are expecting
I bought a similar product whit a part made of plastic in the middle f the body and it is broken, but the design, size and versatility of the grinders are amazing, so I bought it again full stainless steel body and I am just happy with the product, I recommend these grinders.

Cool looking but no control over grind size...
I was looking for relatively small, durable, single-handed-use grinders - - these fit the bill and look very cool & elegant. The problem I have is mainly with the pepper grinder, there's no control over the grind size so it often produces very very fine pepper powder that gets up my nose and makes me sneeze! Not sure yet but I may look for another style, in the meantime don't get me wrong these ARE really cool!
