We purchased another Chili Dog sweater and it turns out that this sweater runs much larger than the first model we bought. My dog (even though he has gained weight) is swimming in the chest and length in this one.

This is the first doggie sweater I've ever purchased for my adult male Frenchie who weighs about 23-24lbs and the medium fits him just like the dog in picture. It has enough give through the neck and chest to go on over his large head and accommodate his broad shoulders comfortably and the arm holes are easy to get his front legs through. It's a little bit long in the back but I'm sure it would be perfect for longer or less stocky breeds like dachshunds. The only very slight issue with the fit is that the cast-on edge of the neck is not quite as stretchy as it could be, but this is an easy fix if you know how to knit and probably not an issue at all if your dog doesn't have a wide neck that expands more when lying down. It still fits fine and isn't causing any problems I just prefer it to be a little stretchier.It is absolutely adorable and even though this is his first experience with doggie clothes he seems warm and comfortable wearing it. I am a knitter and I think it's very well made. I appreciate the fact that it's 100% wool which is breathable and excellent at maintaining body temperature without overheating. Wool also has natural anti-microbial properties and is naturally water resistant due to the lanolin content of the fiber. The care instructions on the sweater recommend hand wash cold or dry clean. At my yarn shop we recommend hand washing with a product called Soak or with a gentle shampoo (like baby shampoo) that won't strip strip the yarn of its natural lanolin content. Warm water causes the fibers to relax and cold water causes them to contract so unless you want to shrink it (or felt it) avoid drastic temperature changes and excessive agitation when washing then lay flat and push it back into shape to dry. I generally don't send wool sweaters I make or buy to the dry cleaners because of the chemicals used in the dry cleaning process and because my boy has somewhat sensitive skin I don't want to put them on him.This sweater is completely adorable and I'm looking forward to buying another one from this company. Very highly recommended!

My Murry is difficult to size as a toy Manchester Terrier. He is only 16#'s but quite broad across the chest. Sweaters have always fit oddly, and I'm lucky if 1 out of 3 or 4 or even 5 try-ons result in a fit. Small, M or L-- he has worn them all. His coat is extremely short and thin so he shakes from the cold (indoors!). Clothing is not as much an option as a necessity in winter. This little sweater, and the Little Monster-- same brand and size, fit beautifully and are just charming. Personally I do not wear wool as it is itchy. Therefore I real did soul-searching @ buying a product for my 'baby' that I wouldn't/couldn't wear. I have watched him and I do not see any more itching than say he has had when wearing a similar synthetic rayon or polyester, or even a cotton knit. The hand knit quality is beautiful and contributes to the sizing and wearability. I have washed and dried both sweaters on 'low'. When about 2/3 dry, I removed from dryer and laid flat. The one caveat: it is quite long. It covers most of Murry's tail. At any rate, I just loved both Chilly Dog Sweaters and am VERY pleased w/ this product. Thanx.

I love chilly dog sweaters! These are the only ones that fit my Boston correctly. They are warm and snug with a range of wonderfully cute designs. I can't say enough good things about how much we enjoy chillys. The one fix I do each time is cut and sew a harness hole. It is a bit of adjustment, but well worth the trouble. Thanks so much for such a great product!

This the 2nd Chilly Dog sweater I have purchased. The quality is very good, it washes very good and the size is right on (bought medium for my medium size dog). Very satisfied!
