Just What I Have Been Looking For
I just received this anvil a couple of days ago and have already used it three times. Believe it or not, this item is justwhat it says it is. It says that it is steel, and my friends it is STEEL, and a very high quality steel. It's not chromedover or painted. It is a plain " made to use " steel anvil. This anvil is very versatile. It can be used as a jeweler'sanvil for delicate work. It can stand up to more tougher jobs, requiring harder striking with a heaver hammer.I have used this anvil to tighten the scales (handles) on a straight razor, with a jeweler's chasing hammer. However, this anvil would do well with a heavier hammer for less delicate tasks. I am just amazed at the quality of this product. The seller, did not try to make a "purse out of a sows ear". This item looks exactly and pictured, and performs as itshould. The seller didn't waste any time getting the order shipped either. I highly recommend this product, for its qualityand versatility.............

Great Anvil at a great price!
I love this anvil! It's a perfect weight and size for heavy duty jewelry work. I had looked around forever for a highly polished steel anvil before finding this one.

Handy anvil
Nicely polished, good looking, about the proper size and appears to be well made, has no mounting holes, have not had time to test if it will hold up to hammer strikes yet. Will revisit if I change my mind on mounting holes...On the other hand the bottom is finished as well as the top and can be used if that suits the need.

A hardened steel tool like the ball peen I use will leave an indentation ...
Arrived promptly and as pictured. It is steel, not hardened though. A hardened steel tool like the ball peen I use will leave an indentation on the flat surfaces. This is a straight up WYSIWYG with accurate weight and size. Now, I found out the hard way that it's too small to kill that pesky roadrunner, but it sure left a goose-egg on my noggin! Looking for a bigger anvil now on the Acme website...

Not worth it!
Made of a very soft metal. Have marks on it after first use with jewelry making. Would not suggest buying it

Does the job
Looks decent for a small anvil. It was purchased for some jewelry making and seems to get the job done. However, it looks as though the tip of the anvil is asymmetrical, maybe this is on purpose but I'm not very experienced with anvils in general. The shiny surface also mars and scratches fairly easily, it was primarily used with either a small brass hammer head or nylon hammer head on steel wire.

Nice, high quality bench top anvil
Nice, high quality bench top anvil. Working well for small jobs in the shop that require a flat, hard surface. Not big enough for use against roadrunners.

It's ok but...
Serves its purpose. Surface is not hardened. I use to set copper burrs for leather work. The copper is soft and it niks up the anvil
