Large Gastromax Heat Resistant Nylon Serving Spoon - 11 Inch

There is just no way that this utensil should be called either a serving spoon or large. You can judge for yourself because here are the measurements of the spoon, never mind the 11-inch length (which turns out to mean nothing), which I would have liked to have had before purchasing: at its widest point, it's 2 and 1/4 inches, and the length from tip to the base of the bowl is 3 inches. In fact, the size so annoyed me that I measured the amount of liquid that the spoon would hold. Would you believe 2 tablespoons? Really. Granted, this spoon will work as a cooking utensil, but unless you are on a diet and deliberately want to take small portions, forget about using it as a serving spoon. You will have to make several passes through the pan to get enough food on your plate. At $6.95, even with super saver shipping, I personally consider this item to be overpriced as well.November 29, 2014 update: I have mellowed somewhat about this spoon since having it for four years because it really is utilitarian. That said, it remains a poor serving piece, and I still would not pay more than $7 for it. Also, it ended up at the bottom of the dishwasher, on the coil during the heating process, which tore up the end of the handle. That would mean that the dishwasher coil exceeded 509 degrees F, which this spoon can supposedly withstand. Maybe.In August 2015 I ordered another spoon because of the dishwasher damage to the first one. This one is better in my opinion because the bowl is noticeably longer and much more like a serving spoon. The price is also currently better, $6.60, as of May 4, 2016. As a result, I have upgraded my original two star rating to three.

Although this is a heat resistant serving spoon, I purchased it for one reason--to scoop my bath products into jars and foil bags. Therefore, I cannot comment on how well it holds up to heat, which is why I gave it four stars. What I can share with you is that this spoon is lightweight (my opinion only), nice and long, easy to clean and serves my purpose. The tapered tip at the top allows for a no mess fill--especially in the smaller bags that I use.

It is just but a spoon. It spoons things from one place to the other with no issues. Easy to clean and might last longer then I do. It is made of nylon so I can not thing of anything that one would eat that would stain it. It does not transfer any nylon taste to your food, assuming that nylon has a taste. It just works and the price was right and my non stick pots and pans are happy, so am I

So many spoons labeled as serving spoons have gigantic spoon bowls, so that guests can take TONS of food with one scoopful! Not with this one! I use this for hot dips, cocktail meatballs and cold taco dip/salad. This is a just right size for cocktail parties, showers, birthdays...

Whether cooking or serving, it is a good heat resistant plastic spoon. It has a minimum of places for food to adhere (easy to clean), and a rounded narrow point which fits the bottom of many pots and containers (easy to scrape the corners). Performed well for my wife and me. It is stiff yet flexible and safe for nonstick pans.

This was perfect for a smaller spoon. It is bigger than a large table spoon but not as large as a ladel. It is a great in-between size. So far no issues and I have had it for at least a couple of months now. It washes in the dishwasher and has not warped.

It is great in that foods do not stick to it as food has a tendency to do on my other spoons.

What can I say... it was a little smaller than I was expecting, (not even 1/4 of a cup capacity,) but it works.
