Beast of a grinder
It's quite cheap for a name brand grinder. I've had it for a bit now and it's solid choice. The grinder is heavy in the hand, comes with wheels and a nice blow polymer case, and is ready to rock out of the box. People mention the switch being awkward, and it can be to turn on, but turning it off is quite easy. I'd believe this was on purpose just for safety reasons as it's hard to accidentally kick it on. It's strong, doesn't slow down too bad on deep plunge cuts, and rides easily in the hand. It's perfect for someone looking to get a really good tool but not the price with the added price tag of a Makita. It's a tried and true name, can't go wrong.

For the price this one cannot be beat. It chews concrete like butter for example.
I don't know what some reviewers are thinking when they say it's just good for basic tasks- this worked like a monster for me. For example, one thing I needed to do was remove a portion of poured concrete that was obstructing a new S40 PVC pipe I needed to install under my deck for drainage. Using a Diablo segmented diamond disc it did literally "chew" right though like the cement was butter in seconds, without even a hiccup from this grinder. And the "on/off switch being awkward to turn on? Not. In fact it's a great and sturdy design. It turns off very easily which is what matters. Like someone said it shouldn't be THAT "easy" to turn the grinder on for safety. Duh. This works great and was not a problem whatsoever. The standard disc attachment/ removal system is firm and foolproof. It has plenty of power for any home owner I am certain. Disclaimer: I am not a professional steel worker or construction worker, but if I were I would know by common sense that I would need to spend more than this for a grinder. Eventually. But even then I KNOW I couldn't go wrong with this to start with- I am sure that it would serve well, and I would certainly get my money's worth.

Powerful, Nice Hard Case
This is a review of the Metabo HPT 4-1/2" Angle Grinder. The grinder has plenty of power at 6.2 Amps. That's 744 Watts at 120V. Approximately 1 horsepower. The motor is not brushless but at this price point, you can't expect that. The hard carrying case is a plus, as many name brand angle grinders on the market don't come with a case. Five grinding wheels means I shouldn't be needing more for years. This is for home use only, for me. The on/off switch has a position that locks the grinder in the "on" position, but it's easy to turn it off, thanks to the "quick off" feature which requires little pressure to switch it off. Overall, this angle grinder is a great value and a good choice for normal household use.

Good solid grinder for light to medium duty jobs
After reading some of the negative reviews, I was expecting a piece of junk that sounded like a coffee can full of rocks. This tool has a very substantial feel and appears to be good quality. Angle grinders are never the smoothest-running power tools, but this one feels a lot closer to one of my better grinders than it does to one from the local tool place that sells cheap imports; and I have bought many of both. This is definitely better made than the cheapo variety. It is true that the on-off switch is a little stiff. It’ll probably loosen up a bit with use. It’s not a problem in any case. I have expensive angle grinders, but I like to use cheap ones for dirtier jobs that don’t require the power of a more expensive tool. This one will be perfect for that use. 6.2 amps is plenty for many light tasks such as wire brushing the slag off of welds and the like. This is a good buy, and when it does go to tool heaven, the case - and those aren't cheap - will live on. EDIT: I just spent a full day on a welding project and used this grinder quite a bit. I have several angle grinders with different flap disks, wire brushes, cutoff wheels etc. because no one likes changing the wheels constantly. The last one of my cheap grinders from the freight place stopped working altogether - it's switch hasn't locked for a long time but at least it spun. I replaced it with another one of these Metabo HPTs. They're a good machine for a low price. Hard to beat and even though the price has gone up 25% over what I paid, it's still a very good value.

Well built grinder, that comes in a good case
Purchased this grinder for the sole purpose of sharpening lawnmower blades, with sandpaper flapper discs. Really nicely built- quality is there. No ought edges. Looks like a quality tool, as Ive come to expect from Metabo. Comes in a good case. I love that it's easy to store, because the case gives lots of room for the cord. The handle installs either left or right side, which is great when you need to hold it offhanded. Auger tightened up and never slipped back, off either the hard cutting discs provided or my flapper discs. Power is lower than some others, but it just depends what your intending to use it for. Really good grinder for the price

Good value for the money
Love this grinder, affordable and gets the job done. I wish it included wheels other than the ones for metal but overall I am very satisfied with the product. Smooth, high speed, comfortable to hold
