First the good - the door closer seems to be heavy duty; haven't used it enough to know for sure. The instructions include a template for mounting the closer on the door for each mounting option.The bad - the installation was not easy, to say the least :#1 It comes with installation instructions that read as though they were translated from another language but clear enough when it comes to what they do explain (but there are holes - see #2)#2 The instructions assume that the customer is installing this closer on a solid (wood) door with the provided wood screws. Bummer I was installing it in a hollow steel door. They DO provide machine bolts and barrels (to put through the other side of the door) for that type of mounting but no instructions on how to do the installation.#3 They provide a template to mount closer on the door (yea !) but do not include a template for the other side of the door if the closer is being mounted using the machine bolts and barrels (boo!). This would have been handy as the two sides need to line up EXACTLY.#4 Once I made my own template and drilled holes through both sides of the door I found that the machine bolts provided are too short by 1/2" - the barrels are an inch and 1/2 long and threaded through so not clear why they cheaped out on providing too short of bolts (especially at this price). I wound up having to go out and buy longer screws to successfully mount the closer to the door. My door is of standard thickness so looks like defective engineering.#5 A template for the top mounting plate is provide but unlike the door closer template, it doesn't have any indication on it as to how far out from the door frame stop it goes - you have to combine the template with the instruction measurements to figure out where to mount it.Not what I expected for a closer that is almost double the price of a lot of other closers out there.

By definition installation is kind of custom and depends on your situation, door, location, etc. Installation wasn't that difficult but you'll want to study all the stuff they include. There is hardware inside to install this 20 different ways and a bunch of permutations. They product quality is quite literally stunning. This has held up for a few months with no adjustment on a door that is opened several hundred times a day - into and out of a service department. People bump into this door with equipment, come running through the door, slam the door, kick the door, and generally abuse it. This has held up admirably. I believe it's rated for 1 million cycles and I firmly believe that this will still be functioning long after the building has fallen down around it.

I don't normally do reviews until there has been enough time to be able to tell if it works right.With that said, We got this door closer for the church months ago.It has more adjustments on it then most, and works great.Anyone can do it, just follow the simple directions and use the template provided.It will be more than 10 years before we have to replace this one, with 2 million+ openings to go...lolYou will thank yourself for this buy...5 star quality.

Well made device with multiple mounting options. Includes full size template for drilling pilot holes for anchor screws. Has separate controls for initial closing speed, final closing action as well as closing rate.Used on 250 pound oak door.

This closes the door, and is very adjustable. However, at the very end, the only way we can get enough "pressure" to close the door is to have it close very quickly on the last 8 or 10 inches. So far, that is working, but I do wonder if someone might get their fingers caught by accident, if they turn around. Probably they won't . . . but otherwise, it works well.

The plastic cover arrived with a little crack but didnt want to go through the trouble of returning it. The unit is heavy and solid, should be a good one. However, after a week of using it, the closing became really rough. A click sound could be heard as the door closing in. Did all kind of adjustments but still no help.
