Pleasantly Surprised
A few tweaks and a change of strings and this guitar was ready to go. For the price I didn't expect much. I had a bunch of Amazon gift certificates to cash in and as I have been a Schenker fan since the late 70s I thought that even if it was a loser I could use it as a wall hanging. I'm surprised at how playable it is. It's quite neck heavy as might be expected since the Dean forked headstock can double as a weapon. Fit & finish are good. Pups are decent. I was concerned about what it would be like to deal with a painted neck when compared to my old LP and Amer. Std. Tele. Not a problem. My son, who is a much better player than I, also enjoyed playing it. Since this guitar was made in Indonesia and I don't know anyone else who owns one, I have no idea if the quality is consistent over a factory run of these things. The one I have is a player.I was still typing my review when I must have hit a key that closed my review and sent it out. I did want to say the nut is not the best. Looks as if it's just a piece of nothing special plastic. The guitar is very light compared to my others. For gigging musicians this will probably be a bonus.Overall I feel that for the money this is a good deal. Not PRS quality but good nonetheless. When I received the package there was no marking on it indicating that it should be handled with care. The instrument was moving about in the box as I brought it into the house. As luck would have it there was no damage. I got it straight from Amazon. I guess I should comment directly to Amazon. I'll get to that.

Wish I could tell you if it is a good guitar or not
Wish I could tell you if it is a good guitar or not, but I can't as mine arrived damaged. It was shipped with totally inadequate protection. It was in a thin cardboard box with only a few Styrofoam blocks to keep it only moderately secure. It arrived with a cracked neck at the first fret , and a hairline crack at the neck pocket. Only the Rosewood fretboard kept the neck from totally snapping off. It was also missing the truss rod cover.Fit and finish seem to be not too bad. Not perfect, but pretty good for a lower end priced guitar. But it is good looking guitar, pictures don'f really show how cool this guitar is to see it in person. It is a very, very light guitar. Lending to the reason it might be a bit more fragile than a average guitar. But I still want one, and am hoping to get a undamaged replacement as soon as possible.

Sounded great
The guitar is beautiful, and sounds great. The action is nice and low.Worth the money, but for a few bucks more, I sent it back, and ordered the custom model.Im a huge Shcenker fan, and have been for 25 years.Cant understand why these guitars are being sold so cheap by everyone. They came out a couple years ago, and I guess becouse of the economy, they sat on the shelves. Nows the time to get a deal.

It came setup pretty good . The only thing I had to do was loosen the truss rod a bit . Before I even plugged it in I took the strings off , cleaned the fretboard with lemon oil and the next day set it up and restrung it using Earnie Ball 10’s. It is perfectly balanced while standing and playing . Nice crisp bridge pickup to get those Schenker type of tones . I don’t play a lot of his stuff , I do play a lot of Scorpions and Iron Maiden though . Schenker is great , I do listen to his music . It’s also light weight , I seriously doubt that it’s 10.5 pounds as stated on Amazon but it doesn’t feel cheap at all . A great buy all in all . Definitely worth the money . I bought it because I wanted a Flying V . Epiphone didn’t have a lot affordable options , Gibson’s simply are way over priced guitars and other brands just didn’t have what I was looking for . The finish is perfect , the fretboard is sort of a lighter brown type of finish on it . The guitar delivers the funk .

DEAN - MICHAEL SCHENKER SIGNATURE: MS RETRO - USA LIGHTS OUT RETROVISION V is an excellent guitar!
I purchased thisDEAN - MICHAEL SCHENKER SIGNATURE: MS RETRO - USA LIGHTS OUT RETROVISION FLYING V GUITAR from Amazon in May 2018. I already own upper level DEAN - MICHAEL SCHENKER SIGNATURE: MS KALIEDO - USA LIGHTS OUT KALEIDOSCOPE FLYING V GUITAR and I feel the MS RETRO is a high quality crafted build. Both of my DEAN MICHAEL SCHENKER SIGNATURE SERIES GUITARS are Made In Korea. IMO the DEAN GUITARS built in the Korea factory, accounts for the excellent quality instrument crafting. The Made In Korea models are equipped with DEAN USA CUSTOM SHOP-DMT MICHAEL SCHENKER Double Black Bridge & Neck Pickups (I popped them out to confirm). The MICHAEL SCHENKER Bridge Pickup provides an amazing screaming tone, capable of going head to head with any retail aftermarket passive pickups. The MS RETRO is designed with the past Gibson Michael Schenker Signature models in mind, equipped with adjustable bridge & stop~tail piece, bolted to the body. ***Update, having used this guitar in several live performances and recording sessions over 2.5 years, I can say this instrument has lived up to it's billing. I've put it through it's paces during many performance situations and it continues to provide ease in playability, crushing tone output and sustain.
