Essential for remote travelling

I thought I should have something substantial in my first-aid kit in case of major trauma to stop gushing blood, but now that it's arrived, it looks more like something you might use on a cut finger...which is still pretty useful I suppose. Also it's really expensive and expires in 33 months, so it's something that needs renewing regularly if not used.It doesn't come with a bandage, it's just a thin gauze presumably folded twice in to a 5cm square to fit in a little packet. See pictures. Luckily I can't yet comment on how well it actually stops bleeding which is the important bit I suppose.Update: OK, I discovered that haemostatic gauze actually is expensive stuff, and the price charged here for a small square is probably reasonable. Upgraded from 3 to 4 stars.
