We were looking for a home security system to install in several locations around our house (front door, side, garage, back door). On paper the Onwote system fitted our requirements which were:1. Mains electric powered (so we don't have to replace batteries every few weeks);2. Wifi communications. It is easy to extend power from the attic to where we were going to locate it, running an ethernet cable would be more difficult (running a cable inside the house within a stud wall is more difficult).3. Outdoors compatible and night vision capable.Having read some of the other reviews on Amazon, before installation, I set up the receiver box and held the cameras in an outside location so that I could test the cameras were within wifi range of the receiver.I found out that they were.My next difficulty was that to get a camera signal remotely (for example on an IPad or smartphone) the Onwote receiver needs to be connected by an Ethernet cable to the household Wifi modem (in my case from AT&T). If the optimum room to hold the Onwote receiver to get camera signals is not the same place as your WiFi modem, then aEthernet to Wi-Fi adaptor can be used. Connect the adaptor to your modem (via wireless) and plug the Ethernet cable from the Onwote receiver to the adaptor. We used the IOGEAR GWU627 (also purchased from Amazon) and it worked well with the Onwote system.I may write another review after we have used the system for several months, but so far I am impressed. It is a good price and met all our requirements. My only complaint (hence the 4 stars) is the need to be careful over installation.

I purchased this product based on the reviews even though some of them were bad. The system was easy to set up and install but the NVR was way too techie for me and an instruction manual did not come with it. Instead, you have to download it. The cameras worked for almost two days and then one would not play back, it would only show live view. Then the next day another one started flickering constantly.The app for this system totally sucks. All you can do is watch the live feed and maybe playback if it doesn't lock up in the process. You can't change any of the settings from the app. Settings can only be changed via the NVR. As far as tech support for this product, it is done via email only between the hours of 6pm and 12am Monday through Friday. Not convenient at all when you're trying to trouble shoot it and waiting for emails to go back and forth. Buyer be aware that this same junky system is also sold under other brand names that you've probably never heard of, just like this one.I returned the system after only a few days and ordered Reolink model number RLC-410W instead and it is so much better. The app is great, you don't need an NVR and you can change the camera settings via the app. You can also login on a computer and view/change settings that way too.Don't waste you time with this one. Buy Reolink or another well known brand from the start.

I bought this to install at my moms house knowing I only had a couple days to get it installed and running over thanksgiving.1500sqft ranch style house, receiver in middle room at back of house. Cameras at corners and middle.Hardest part is getting power and I was lucky there were outlets where needed.Easy to install, plug in and working.App worked great and being able to monitor locally without going through internet was a major plus.I hope these hold up, as they were great and easy to install.

No way to back up video to a flash drive or external harddrive. Am I to hand the whole receiver to the police for evidence? Unit only has one USB slot so you have to switch between the mouse and a flash drive. Well, when I try to save a 4M file into a 256GB flash drive I get the error "Backup record failed! Not enough space to backup." I am very disappointed and regret my purchase.

I do wish there was a better night vision unit out there I could afford.I have been using this unit for several weeks and it is providing me with what I needed.

The system itself is great,but since I bought This system mainly because the remote access with the app I'll have to say I'm not happy. I have the best Internet service can run everybody's xbox and playstation is I could be sitting in the house Connected to Wi-Fi and check camera with my Edit take sometimes up to 10 minutes to show a picture and when he does it's from 20 minutes before or its real grainy. So when I get the texting someone triggered the motion sensor elder gone by time The video comes up other than that the system's great. Just wish they would fix that.

I bought this system with the intentions of installing and adding cameras as needed. Less than 2 years the HDD went south. Figure on $50.00 plus to replace that. They were very sorry for my inconvenience. Looked on the website for the cameras in case I needed to replace one, they don't have them. They were very sorry for my inconvenience and would help me try to find one that will work on Amazon. What kind of nightmares would I have trying to connect another brand of camera?? Bad investment in my book!

These cameras work just great. I dealt with a tech. on a prob I had and was able get the prob fixed right off, Very happy with the system!!
