We got two shaved ice machines across our broader family (don't ask) - one is this heater style Japanese, the other one is also on Amazon, and it's the one described as "hard to clean but industrial style from China." Of the two, this Japanese heater style definitely creates more finely shaved ice, closer to snow, in the kakigori / bingsu style - less like the Hawaiian ice chip/snowcone style.Pro's:- reasonably easy to use- seems easy to clean- the heater really makes a differenceCon's:- you have to use their 2 ice molds (or a small takeout tupperware) to create the circular "puck." And each puck serves probably 2-3 people. So it's not as industrial scale as the Chinese one- it is quite tall - probably the height of a mixer/blenderOverall, if kakigori is something you love (and/or you have kids,) this is really pretty good

I saw this when I was traveling through Japan during summer. It is a bit more complicated relative to traditional machine since you have to leave the ice on the room temp for a little bit and such. I can’t remember if it did come with English instruction but for me, it wasn’t issue but I could see that potentially becoming an issue for some people.

最初なかなか上手くふわふわにならなかったけど、夫が何回か使ううちに刃を操作してふわふわかき氷🍧になりました👍😊思い切って買って良かったです♪

妊娠中かき氷が異常に食べたくなって購入しました。ふわふわかき氷が作れる時もあるのですが、取り敢えず冷蔵庫から作った氷をすぐ出してかきだす場合は粗めにしないと空回りしてしまって氷がかけません。おそらく推奨の通り冷凍庫からだしてある程度自然に溶けてからだと細か目でもいけるのかなぁ。

ヒーターが売りらしいけど、最初の一回ヒーターが熱くなっただけで あとは 壊れました。最悪です しかたなく、本元のドウシシャへ送り 修理です まだ帰ってきていません。
