Spectrum Organic All Vegetable Shortening, 24 oz, Pack of 2

This is just as good as the previous product that we use to use, but is no longer made. It melts very quickly on hot toast.

I grew up on Cisco pie crusts and cookie dough, but I wanted a healthier alternative for my family. This is tasteless and makes a great pie crust.

If you don’t like the smell of Crisco, this vegetable shortening is ideal. It has no scent. Furthermore, it spreads and handles easily: the texture at room temperature is smoother and less waxy than Crisco.

I spent a fortune on this stuff only to realize that it expired three days after receiving the order. This is unacceptable to send someone a bulk product that expires so soon. And I can't return it of course.

Somehow I stumbled across this shortening, probably in a recipe for a vegan cake and I'm SO glad I found this! I made a vegan chocolate cake and will use if for other fillings, icing when I bake. As someone who is actually allergic to all dairy I never can enjoy the baking that I do for others, particularly if it involves butter as many icings do. I think they do, anyway. I don't bake a lot for the simple reason that many recipes actually use milk, cream, cream cheese or some dairy product of some description. And while I realize it isn't ALWAYS all about me (WHAAATT?!?!?) from time to time I'd like to actually have a bite or two of the goodies that I bake for others.This shortening made a light, lovely and airy ganache and everybody raved about the cake and the icing/filling it so that's always a good sign, isn't it? Actually, now that I think about it, this product might prove to be my undoing since I'll now be able to actually eat what I bake. Oh, shoot! You'll not go wrong purchasing this for your own baking.Will undoubtedly buy it again. Thank you Hain Celestial Group!
