Calphalon Pantryware 6 Piece Oval Canister Set

I started cooking and baking over the last year or two, and everything I do in the kitchen takes me a million times longer than it should. When I read a recipe and it says 'prep time: 20 minutes' I know I will be in the kitchen for an hour. I'm not sure what my problem is, but I am trying to get faster, and I decided a little organizing might help. So I set out to find a metal or glass canister set that was sleek enough to be left out on the counter, opaque on the sides so light doesn't damage contents, and at a price point where I feel like I'm paying for a good, quality set without being ripped off by anyone.I have six of these Calphalon containers (two separate sets), and I'm impressed with them. I did have an issue with one of the lids having a crack in the metal handle. So I emailed Calphalon. I have never in my life seen better customer service. They wrote me right back, and bam, I had replacements at my door.As to how these containers fit my set of wants: They are stainless steel bases, glass lids and silicone gaskets. The bottoms are opaque but the lids are not, and that is fine because little light can get to my food and I like being able to see how much is in them without opening them. And even though I haven't purchased any other containers, I think that this price point is about right where I want to be. I considered a similar set for almost twice as much and I just couldn't see anything about them that justified the jump in price.The lids are tight. In fact, I have a little game of dare I like to play. Because I don't like to leave fingerprints on the nice shiny canisters, I'll pick them up by the lids instead of the sides, and see if I can carry them to my working space without the bottoms falling off. I haven't lost yet, and when I do need to pop the lids off, I wrap my fingers around the rim and pull. If you have arthritis or other issues with grip, do yourself a favor and make sure you can easily return any canisters that you order just in case it is too difficult for you to open them. Or possibly go with one of the plastic containers that have a pressure release button. These ones require some force to open. But that makes me hopeful that they are truly sealed and air tight.

After looking for a set of canisters for the last 5 or 6 years, I finally found these. I love the look of them. The seal fits well and the oval shape lends itself nicely to scooping ingredients out. My only complaint with them is that they could be slightly bigger. I read the other reviews on these before I purchased and one reviewer mentioned that a whole bag of flour would fit into the largest canister. This isn't true, but that's only a small complaint and I would buy them again despite the size.

I purchased these canisters for my new kitchen and they were just the quality you would expect from Calphalon. They are durable, stylish, and easy to use because of their unique oval shape. The one thing I dislike about this set is that even the largest canister is not big enough to hold a standard 5-lb bag of flour. The middle size holds a full bag of sugar--3 lbs--but the largest is about three cups too small for a full flour bag. Otherwise, a great set!

recieved the package, the wrapping paper was rip up the box was smashed, it looked like some else had it first i bought it new and had it wrapped for a wedding shower.

This is a decent looking set, but has a rather small capacity. The weight of the stainless steel was good. I returned it because I have a large kitchen with very nice finisihes and this just looked lost on the counters and didn't hold a good quantity (like 5 lbs of sugar- my hummingbirds eat a lot!).

These are attractive and well built, but the suction sprays the contents all over the counter when you open them and then when you close them you have to juggle with the lids to keep the lids from popping back open. I have tried twisting the lids from various angles and varying the speed to no avail. They are hard to close and messy when opening. But they are nice looking and sturdy. A bit small, and there are only three of them however, so depending on how much capacity you need these might be inadequate. I have Tupperware cannisters that are much more practical from a functional perspective, but they are not nearly as decorative to look at, so it depends on your needs...

These are really sturdy, beautiful and functional. As I read in one review, the large canister is not quite large enough for a 5 lb bag of flour but since I already keep some flour in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid, this isn't a problem for me. The other two are the right size for a standard bag of sugar and powdered sugar.These canisters match my appliances and, as with all Calphalon products, they are very well made and well worth the money.I love these canisters!

Just love the canister set. I've been looking for a long time and this one is absolutely perfect! Has a modern sleek look and doesn't take up much space on the counter. It's very well made and the lids fit very secure. Couldn't be happier!
