I am using this in my kitchen to reach a too high built in microwave. Plain and simple, I am short. I needed to add about 4 inches to comfortably reach the controls. I had originally bought a regular stepstool but it was too high and narrow. I've since placed this elsewhere in my house. This one is perfect!!! I feel very comfortable with it. It's not too high, gives me the 4 inches I needed, and is wide enough (not too too wide) to help me feel stable. It's really so handy. I purchased the natural color one and it blends in well with my cabinetry.

No assembly required. Very sturdy and well constructed. After reading many reviews on a multitude of these types of aids I settled on the wood because so many of the plastic ones broke after very little use I did not want my mother to fall if her step aid broke. My only issue, cant call it a complaint, is that the step needs some kind of no slip surface. Mom is 86 and her skin on her feet is very dry thus it is not easy to gain purchase when using the step. Easily solved with a piece of under rug grip pad which I attached with staples. Very happy with this item.

We recently purchased a new mattress that is a bit higher than our old one. I found getting into and out of bed very challenging and dangerous. Although this product is only 3.5 inches high, it meets my needs perfectly. The quality of the finish work is fine, and the size of the step enables me to slide it out of sight under our bed frame. When I was a little boy, my father repeatedly told me: "We're too poor to buy the same product twice." If you need a step to get into and out of bed and feel that you need to buy a step. you won't feel that you have to pay for another step

This review is about the Carbonization/finished/Dark Wood version, and not the light wood/unfinished-looking item.Let's get to the -1 Star: This item is glossy in its finish and can be very slippery. I highly recommend placing down traction tape, or some other solution for slips. I would not use this to come out of the shower or tub. But I do use this when it is wet outside. With my traction tape, it feels safe; but that safe feeling comes from wearing shoes. I would not step on this barefoot anywhere near water.Other than that, this product has just spent its second winter fully outdoors. It is under a porch covering but there is still some direct exposure to elements on the sides. The step is still sturdy, and the varnish seems to protect it well enough. I suspect in a couple of years I will have to treat it again. But after two years, so-far-so-great.In fact, I just bought another for an upstairs deck. Here it will have direct exposure to weather, and I am not worried in the slightest.

I needed a single small step into my sliding glass door. This one is just like one my late husband made me years ago. It's well made of a nice wood, varnished, sturdy, and just the right height for my arthritic knees. It came fully assembled out of the box. It makes me happy.

I chose a pair of these to assist my parents for ingress and egress from the garage to the house and from the driveway to the front porch, decreasing the elevation of each step by about half. I stopped at the hardware store and bought a reflective tape to add to the leading edge to catch their attention when entering or leaving.I have some mild concern they may trip over this step, but that has not yet happened. All in all this is a good solution to a design issue with the house they built 40 years ago and tends to keep them there, where they prefer, rather than in a retirement community.I avoided the plastic models of this remedy as the review reference them collapsing after only a short time. Had I had the time to fabricate this wooden step in the shop I would have employed this same design.

I recommend this to anyone who deals with chronic pain or may be recovering from surgery and has trouble getting into bed without pain due to your bed height. I was nervous it’d be too short to be helpful considering how tall my bed is, but after getting it and trying it, it’s a perfect height for me. The finish isn’t too slick for bare feet, socks, or shoes in my opinion, but you can always buy grip tape at the hardware store to help add security if you feel differently. Has protectors on the bottom that keep it in place and protect your floor if it’s wood. Doesn’t tilt if you stand on one side due to the design. Fairly light weight which makes it easy to pick up and move. Can slide under the bed when not in use. Wood design is very pretty. I want to note that I have wooden floors, so the fact that this step doesn’t slide around on them without purposefully pushing it is a pro.

This step is so perfect to put beside my bed to safely get into & out of bed.It would also be perfect to use to step down a large step.Also to reach things in my kitchen cabnets.It is sturdy & well built.I would highly recommend this step.

I have two of these in both colours. They are great. I need them for getting in the bed and are not in the way for getting out. Well worth the purchase
