Zastone 889G Walkie Talkies 2 Pack Dual Band Two Way Radio Long Range 10W 999CH 3000mAh UHF/VHF GPS Ham Radio

I work in Radio Communications and I have been a ham for years.This radio is not supported by chirp. It appears that it was but the company had the software pulled back in so that the costumer is forced to buy it from the manufacturer for $50. And apparently it can only use a specific programming cord.I contacted the manufacturer's costumer support and have not heard back.Do not buy this radio! I returned the 889G immediately once i learned all this information.

Great HT.......Easy to program manually just remember a few menu #'s and your in business. I'm NOT A COMPUTER GUY...999 memories, all my amateur bands, marine frequencies, MURS and FRS and several others with room to spare. Loud speaker easy to read color screen, and yes you can program the display to stay on contrary to other post (read the Manuel smart guy) Battery life is good even on high power. I haven't seen 10 watts yet, but almost, well over 8watts still very good for an HT. I checked the GPS on the HT with my Garmin, Other than the last number in the coordinates it was the same so it appears to be working fine. I would DEFFENTLY buy again and probably will.

Bought 4 of these direct from zastone, for testing in winter motor sports. Right out of the box, 1 of the radios has an intermittent display problem. Backlight stays on but all information is blank. Zastone offered NO help.Good luck setting up the gps! There are some Russian YouTube videos with English subtitles. Again no help at all from Zastone! The gps function is the only reason for me to purchase these. You can get just as good of a 2 way radio anywhere.The 2 way radio is good enough, it works, sounds good has decent sensitivity. Good transmitted audio quality.Again, good luck with the gps function. Best I have done with it so far, is hit and miss at best! And that is with 3 out of 4 radios.... 25% failure rate.The very best bad example there is.

Beautiful radio. But somewhat unpolished.Pros:Powerful! Probably more lower than i want near my face. But you can adjust output.Rugged.Color screen.Cross band repeater.GPS? Not sure if it works because I would need a second radio of this model to test. Wanted it for APRS but im not using a tnc and it is not compatible with APRSDroid.CONS: Do not be fooled. There is NO available software for this radio. It is Very hard to program manually but it is possible if you have programmed a Baofeng manually. Similar to that but less user friendly.No keypad backlight. Impossible to use in total dark.For 100 bucks I like it. Not sure i need cross band repeater but other radios with that function cost a lot more so I feel this is worth it.Really disappointed in the keypad though.
