Good scale but not as consistent as it could be.
As an engineer I am a bit critical when it comes to accuracy of measurement devices especially when it comes to repeatable and consistent measurements. This is a good looking scale and everyone likes a clear bright digital display that tells them a discrete number. It gives one the feel of "accuracy" because it says a specific unique number with a decimal point, but that is not accuracy in the true scene of the word. Further it is difficult to produce a digital scale that can measure 400 lbs and be sensitive to .1 or ,2 lbs and then weigh something at 20lbs with equal accuracy. Most digital scales measure weight by a devices called a strain gauge. that measures change in resistance due to deformation of a metal. Keep in mind this deformation is very small and the change in resistance is also very small. It is easy to introduce error into these scales. I think the weakness of this scale is not the strain gauge per say. I would bet that most of these digital scales on the market use the same or very similar strain gauge. They are all pretty consistent and calibrated but as I said consistency error is can be introduced through the design of the rest of the unit. There are lots of ways to introduce error to these devises. All scales (digital and analog) need to be on a hard rigid and level surface to be consistent. When you tilt it even the slightest bit you introduce bending moments and that will distort your measurement. If one of the "feet" on the bottom of the scale are on a grout seam of a tile, that alone can distort the measurement significantly.Temperature can also be a huge factor. Is your scale near a heating/cooling vent? These scales are calibrated for a consistent temp and must be at that temp ( probably 68-70 deg F or so). If it gets a blast of heat or cool from a nearby floor vent it will really throw off the measurement because the strain gauge is very sensitive to heating or cooling because the gauge will expand or contract ever so slightly and that will change the electrical resistance and thus the weight shown. I live in the Northeast and my scale was delivered in the middle of the winter on a cold day. UPS left it on my front step until I got home. When I opened it the scale was cold. I stepped on it and I was 8 lbs lighter than my analog scale. After letting it equalize a bit it, said I was 2.5 lbs over my analog. What I don't like about the scale is if I move it slightly on the level floor or pick it up and put it down in the same spot on the floor, I get different numbers that vary about 2 lbs or so. I think this has to do with the feet design and / or the over-aggressiveness of the damping mechanism that is used. It seems to lock in very quickly and I think it needs more time to equalize before it commits to a weight.Lastly, it can not detect small increments of change. If you weigh yourself and it says 182.2 and then you pick up a 2 oz item and re-weight your self holding the item it will not say 182.4, most of the time it will say 182.2. So Accuracy is not +/- .2 The gauge may be that but the scale is not.For the money I still think this it is a good scale and great technology but it is not as consistent as I would like. Also I would like a way to calibrate it (tune)to a known weight. In fact I don't care if it is off pound or two but consistency should be improved. At this point I don't know if I should return it and try another scale or different brand or go back to my 25 year old $99 analog scale which appears very clunky by comparison but it get consistence and I can zero it for temperature changes.IMO there is a reason the doctors office has a balance beam scale, the damping and measurement technique are different and is more consistent. You step on and off that scale and you get the same number, even if you move the scale to a new location.

Works pretty well
This bathroom scale is a nice basic scale. It is light so you do not have to worry about it being too heavy to move and store if you do not have room to use. It does auto zero so you do not have to worry about having to zero the scale before using it. I do recommend weighing a few times on the first use in order to make sure it is properly calibrated. The surface is a nice smooth glass feel so be careful when storing it or putting it down as you can break the glass if you are not too careful. Another thing I would suggest as well is utilize only on a flat non carpet surface to get the best accurate results for any scale as you do not have to worry about having inaccurate results. Another thing is to make sure you keep your weight on the heels if possible when weighing for best results. The surface can be a little slippery with socks on so be careful of that. I tested the accuracy of this scale and it does measure to the nearest tenth which is pretty nice. It does auto turn off on its own if you are worried about it constantly being on. All you need in order to turn the product on is to step on it and it will begin. Again whenever you are moving it make sure to calibrate it by doing several measurements. The glass surface is nice but it can be cold in the morning so be careful if you are wearing sock and stepping on the scale! The scale does run on four AAA batteries which are also included with this product for usage! There is also a battery indicator that will tell you if the battery needs to be changed as well! Overall I am very happy with this product as it is accurate, easy to store, and works well.

Great Display, All Glass Top, Auto Calibration Feature
I was in the market for a scale because I had an old analog style spring scale that was about 20 pounds off! The first thing I love about this scale is the all glass top. The all glass top makes it very easy to clean with any cleaner, and because the display is built in below the glass top, it makes it even easier to clean. The second thing I love is the display itself. It is very easy to read and very well lit. There is an option to change from pounds to kilos which is a nice touch and there is a low battery indicator light. And the last thing I love about this scale is the auto calibration feature. No need to tap the side and wait for the scale to "ready" itself anymore; with this scale you just step right on and it auto calibrates! Now the reason I did not give 5 stars is also because of the auto calibration feature. If you are just interested in an estimate weight, this scale is perfect. However, one of my family members is currently on a diet and every tenth of a pound counts on a scale. I noticed with the scale on a flat hard surface, the reading from the first time you step on the scale is often different than the next reading in the same exact spot. For example, I placed the scale on my bathroom floor and stepped on. I weighed 157.4 lbs. I waited for the scale display to turn off and stepped on again. This time I weighed 159.0 lbs. For the third time I weighed 158.4 lbs. This slight variance makes a huge difference in self esteem when on a diet and you hop on the scale and noticed you "gained" weight when in fact the scale is just off slightly. Overall, I am pleased with the scale and the next time I go to the doctor's office I will compare the two readings.
