Samsung Gear VR Fan Cooling & Charging Cover (CUVR Ultimate) Compatible with SM-R324 -SM-R323 - SM-R322 (Black - S6)

Works perfect. Snaps on and off easily, and keeps my phone cool after an hour of use. Doesn't add any noticeable weight to my Gear VR, and kept my lenses from fogging up too. I also like that it has a charging light that stops blinking red, and goes to Solid Red when it's fully charged. Nice to be able to VR without worrying that my S7 Phone is going to explode from overheating.

Okay so we know that modern smart phones today main issue is thermal throttle. The hotter the smart phone gets the more it slows down. This becomes extremely apparent when we use it for VR, because the stutters would stand out. So i did some tests, without any good program to both stress test a phone while measuring the temps at the same time, I simply opted for doing multiple benchmarking tests with and without the fan phone. I did multiple runs of the tests to make sure the phone can truly get nice and toasty to hit thermal throttling.Here are my results. I use geekbench as my benchmarking tool since it does single core, multicore, and gpu benchmarking. Since I am not comparing the scores to any other phones the scores means nothing than simply numbers to see does the Cuvr provide enough cooling to the phone to improve performance or at least make the phone run more stable.*In the following scores any score with 0.5 or greater in decimal points is rounded up and any less is rounded down.Without the fan onAverage Single Core Score: 1424Average Multi Core Score: 3722Average GPU Score: 5688With the fan onAverage Single Core Score: 1717Average Multi Core Score: 3941Average GPU Score: 6221So what does this mean? The fan is doing the job keeping the phone from thermal throttling. Another advantage of having a fan cooling your phone is consistency. To look at the consistency we look at the Standard Deviation of the scores.With fan offStandard Deviation Single Core: 153Standard Deviation Multi Core: 394Standard Deviation GPU: 740With fan onStandard Deviation Single Core: 81Standard Deviation Multi Core: 38Standard Deviation GPU: 284With the fan on the standard deviation is significantly lower than without the fan on. Meaning your phone would be running on a much more constant performance.So as a whole with the fan on we see a 21% increase in single core performance. 6% increase in Multi Core performance and a 9% increase in GPU performance. Considering this isn't some fancy cooling solution where you have some type of copper heat sink or heat pipes attached directly to the chips of your phone, these increase in performance isn't bad.So why did I not give the item a perfect score despite it does it's job?There are a few things I have issues with with the product. Though the customer service is good and very friendly, I find the fact that they send you an email to identify your phone model to get you the correct fan is problematic, especially for people like me, where I get hundreds of emails a day, so an email that just says its simply from Amazon will easily get lost in my inbox (in fact that is exactly what happened with my order).The wireless charging isn't very good. It doesn't charge that fast compare to other wireless charging hardware out there. Needing to charge a phone at 50% to full in 4 hours is a bit much and I am pretty sure the internal battery of this product doesn't even hold enough charge to last that long. With that, though not completely tested yet, I doubt it will charge fast enough for when the phone is in active use. Also the wireless charging, when on, just simply adds more extra heat to the phone so it counteracts the benefits of having an active fan cooling your phone.Finally my biggest gripe, and the main reason why I haven't tried charging while actively using VR is, when the product is plugged in the fan will not turn on. Meaning you can't be using product to both charge your phone, play VR, cool your phone at the same time if you don't want to rely on the internal battery of the accessory.

Not only did this NOT fit the Gear VR as promised but while trying to get it to fit as promised one of the clips that hold the fan to the phone popped right off. I wouldn't recommend paying the 45 dollars they are asking for flimsy plastic that breaks on a product that doesn't even fit as described.

It works and you can watch vr for extended time, but it adds too much weight for me. Get rid of wireless charger or find way to lessen the weight.

Ok fan works and extends use time for heat issues. Wireless charger is spotty at best in fact drains it even if it happens to connect but generally when you push the charge button just a series of beeps connecting and reconnecting over and over making using it while trying to charge ineffective or useless. But it does cool the unit for at least getting thru a flick

This item worked as advertised. I was surprised when I connected it to my smartphone which would always get hot while using my vr headset. Even after 2 hours of continuous use my phone was still cool. Great device. As good as it is there is still room for some cosmetic/structural improvement.

This add-on to the Gear VR works surprisingly well! From the product images it was clear that the product is 3D printed, which usually means it's pretty fragile and low-quality. This one actually fits very well and firmly. It also does charge the phone quite well through inductive charging, which I've had issues in the past with other portable inductive battery packs.Finally (perhaps most importantly), it keeps the phone cool through the simple fan. I played some graphics-intensive VR racing games via my S7 for an hour (longest my eyes can stand it) and the phone never got warm.

It cools while it wirelessly charges the phone. It works great. It may take a few hours to charge battery in fan depending on current rating of the charging unit.
