Almost a good product
There is a lot to like about this guide. The low profile allows almost any backed saw to be used. The rubber? grip stuff helps hold it in place. Its light and inexpensive. Unfortunately it suffers from one major flaw and if you look carefully it's highlighted in the listing and their product video. You can only use the magnetic guide to cut one side of the pins! The pictures show to cut the right side of the pin you have to turn it so the magnet is on the side (face) of the board, not on the top (end grain). Thay leaves you with 2 legs with .22" of surface and no magnet to register your saw. All they have to do is cut it a little differently and it'd be a great product. I put it next to my veritas guide to show what I'm talking about. The magnet is a little weak to boot. Really wanted to like this product.

Good idea but needs just a bit more work to be great
I am new to hand cutting dovetails. I figured I needed a guide to have any luck. I looked at those on the market and picked this one to try. It allows you to cut both tails and pins. Mine is for 1:8 ratio. The unit is metal with a rubber coating to make it hold in place easier. A magnet inside holds the blade in place. My only issue is that to cut some edges, you need to hold the unit to the right of the blade. For a right handed person, this is rather awkward. Not only that but in those cases, the magnet is positioned in such a way as to not be very attractive till you get part way into the cut. By then you could be heading in the wrong direction.I think the ideal guide would allow you to cut tails and pins from the same side of the board with the guide on either the right of the left of the blade (got to look out for the lefties!) with the magnet in close proximity. I suspect the only way to do this would be with two guides. One for tails and one for pins. That might increase the cost of the unit, but it would be much better. With that said, I ended up making a simple jig out of wood with the right angle for the cases where I needed to hold this jig to the right. I just had to take more time to insure the blade stayed in contact with my wood jig.So all in all, it was a decent device to help me get started cutting dovetails. But I think that after a few more projects, I will outgrow this and just use my eye or a simple wood block guide.

Woodraphic Dovetail Saw Guide
I was hesitant to buy a dovetail saw guide. I viewed it as a crutch that would lengthen the learning curve. This Woodraphic guide is about half the price of most others on the market so I took a gamble. The magnets are quite strong. The silicone gripping surfaces prevent the jig from sliding on the board surface while sawing. The HDPE covers on the magnets allow the saw plate to glide smoothly . Caution : your saw must have minimal set or you will saw into the aluminum body of the jig. My work improved dramatically with this jig. Hopefully I will develop the skill required to saw freehand. Someone asked if this jig could be used left-handed. Yes it can. Only Korean made tool I own.

Good but could use instructions.
This jig worked well with my Japanese pull saw. I am new to cutting dovetails so detail instructions on how to use the jig would be helpful but none were included.

Works as advertised
This guide works great! The only recommendation I would provide is that the manufacture maybe provide an angle or ratio to each side of the guide.

poorly made
It is difficult to use and the probability of error is high and the magnet is weak

Surprised!

Works well but issues with Western style dovetail saws
I was torn about wherever this review would be a three or four star one and it barely scraped into a four star position.... I have been hand cutting dovetails for years without a guide but I find that even with my best efforts the saw cuts always needed a fair bit of fine adjustment with a chisel so thought I would try a guide to speed things up.It arrived safe and sound in a brown box and it looks to be well made from aluminium with neodymium magnets inside the alu with a ridged plastic coating over the magnets to allow the saw blade when attached to move back and forth easily. In use the guide does definitely work well and keep the saw blade on track but it was here that I ran into a problem.... unless you are cutting very shallow dovetails on thin stock a Western style backed dovetail saw will only get so far into the cut before the spine on the saw (in my case a Veritas saw) hits the alu body of the guide and then you will need to finish the cut freehand.... which in fairness you can then ride the blade of the saw against the cut already made to continue the accurate cut which for some people will be fine for others maybe not. I have a excellent large bladed and backed Japanese dovetail saw and thanks to it's larger blade it worked a lot better with this guide. So for the Western saw issue explained above I had considered giving the guide only a three star review but because the guide did work so well when the capacity of the saw blade allowed I decided to go for a four star instead and the guide wouldn't have got a 5 star review anyway because I think it's a little over priced for mass produced item. All in all a little over priced and not perfect but it does do a good job.
