I am emphatically not a baker, but everyone needs a rolling pin, right? My grandma always used the kind of rolling pin with handles on the sides and a cylinder that rotates on a dowel. This type with the beveled ends seemed a lot more sleek and elegant (not to mention easier to store), so I decided I'd order it. So far I've used it to make pizza dough, crackers, and focaccia. The crackers weren't rolled out thin enough and turned out rock hard, but that's probably more a "me" problem or a "dough" problem rather than a "rolling pin" problem.My headline says this thing is fun to use. In addition to not being a baker, I'm also not a car guy. But when I hear car guys enthuse about driving cars, they often say things about feeling a connection to the road. This is similar. Using this rolling pin, I really felt the dough and the table and the friction (slight though it was...this is a well-sanded, smooth piece of wood). It felt very different from my grandma's rolling pin, just holding handles while the cylinder of wood did all the turning.

Great product, much better than my old non-stick traditional rolling pin. No more pinching on the sides and much less sticking. Very smooth too, no need to sand more. Just make sure to hand wash with a non-abrasive and flower up nicely. Size is nice for use but can be a pain to store so plan accordingly
