Footprint: Matter believes that a wheels footprint is more important than wheel hardness alone. Footprint is the compression size, which is the amount of wheel making contact to the surface. The amount of compression changes with someone's weight, speed or temperature and becomes even more important when you are on the side of the wheel in the turns or doing the double push. Therefore, Matter designs their wheels to account for footprint when determining hardness and it should not be used to compare one hardness rating to another. Standard formula guidelines still do apply so the harder wheels will force less of a footprint.
