Easy learning
This book makes it very easy to learn writing with the paint brush pens! Once you get the hang of it and keep practicing it’s fun to write all sorts of things! I even made my own calendar/planner with the months written in calligraphy.Just a beginner tip: use the hard tip brush pens to start learning. They are much easier to learn how to do the different pressures for different thicknesses of the letters. I have done art and drawing since I was a little girl and can have a very light hand if I need to and the hard tip pens were much easier than the soft ones to learn with.

Great book
Am loving this practice book. Just washintaling quality tracing paper to the page so I can use again and again.Sadly book doesn’t lay flat, which makes it a bit tricky to use left facing pages for this righty. Would be better if it was a spiral-bound option was available, and even better yet if spiral was at the top, so it didn’t get in the way

Really an excellent choice with one request...
If you are looking for a well-sequenced, thorough practice book for brush pen lettering, this is the one. The book is filled with pages and pages for practicing basic strokes, connecting strokes, lower and upper alphas, and finally words., numbers, and symbols. After all, when it comes down to it, when you are trying to learn brush pen lettering, what is really needed is practice practice, practice... and that is the purpose of this workbook. I gave the book 5 stars because it is really deserving, but I would happily give it ten stars if it was sold as a spiral. I prefer to use tracing paper rather than use the workbook as a consumable. In the end, I tore the book apart and put the pages on disk rings. A tedious task to be sure, but in my opinion, the functionality of the book was improved significantly. By the, way, there is a companion book by the same author with a similar title... this review is about the “practice book.”

Great practice book for brush lettering
This is a great practice book for brush pen lettering. I like the style presented, which looks very similar to calligraphy. This does not have other font styles for hand-lettering. The pages are perforated, so you can tear the pages out of the book and set them underneath tracing paper to practice over and over again, which is also helpful. The practice sheets include slanted lines if you (like me) have difficulty achieving the correct angle for your letters. My only complaints about this book are that I wish it was larger so that you get a full 8X10 page for practice, and I wish the book binding had pockets on the inside to store the pages once they are removed from the binding. I started with the practice book, but I think I will pick up the companion instruction book to go with.

A +++ Highly recommend this working lettering book!
Anyone else going through an expensive wedding season decide it was a good idea to hand address invites?? I cant possibly be the only crazy person out there! Anyway, got this book to help with my lettering and this book was amazing! It reminds me of those books from elementary school where you practice tracing and that's how you learn to read and write - this book was similar! It made it So incredibly easy to learn how to do brush pen lettering! Which if you've tried, you known is not an easy task! This book made it so much easier to do. I wish I could find my befiore/after photo of my lettering -- i bet reviewers would get a kick out of it. I love the way the book is broken up into letters, words and style - all of these things are so important. I found it easier to learn when I praticed letters first. It makes sense to get comfortable with individual letters before you jump into a word. Highly recommend this book - i love that it's a working book. I especially appreciated the extra work sheets! What a treat!

Good step-by-step lessons
I bought two of these books for my two homeschooled daughters who wanted to learn brush lettering. I also bought the official Brush Pen Lettering book that goes with this, but they have barely looked at that, so that was kind of a waste of money at this point. This book is perfect for a self-taught middle school / high school student. They are working through a page a day, practicing each stroke consecutively. It is just what they need, since I can't teach them, having never learned. The instructions are on each page, and there is plenty of space to practice. In looking through the book, I expect them to be able to write fluently and well by the end of the book. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Needs Lay-Flat Binding for Practice
I love Grace Song Calligraphy's style and was excited to order both the how-to workbook and this practice book. The practice book recommends using tracing paper to practice the drills multiple times without marking the page, however this was really hard to do (particularly on certain pages) because the binding prevents the pages from lying anywhere close to flat on your table. Even practicing lines directly on the page without trace paper, keeping my beginner's hand still and in-line was tricky with the curved pages. If this was republished with some kind of coil or special lay-flat binding, I would purchase a second copy in a heartbeat! : )

Very helpful but definitely use tracing paper!!!
This is a great workbook for a beginner like me! Very helpful with tips on how to control your strokes and whatnot and provides space to actually write in the book, but I recommend just using tracing paper on top of the practice sections. I use the Pentel Fude Touch Sign Pen, which is one of the pens that the author recommends to use with this book, but it ghosts through the next page. This book also would have benefitted from having a spiral binding/top spine rather than a normal spine because my hand constantly has to be re-positioned to letter as I get closer to the spine since it doesn't lay flat.

Absolutely Must Buy for beginner Brush Lettering Artists.
I just love this book. It’s more practise book than explanations which I love. As a beginner in Brush Lettering, I would say I have improved so much with referring and practising on this book cum exercise book. The pages and smooth and very good quality to use brush pens. However, we need to use small brush pens like Pentel Fude Brush Pen or Tombow Fudenosuke Brush pens because the letters are small. So large brush pens would be a problem to practise on this book. It has alternative letters and little flourishing practise pages too. This is a must buy book for Beginner Brush Lettering Artist.

Complete beginner's guide
It's great for beginners. The only thing I would recommend is, if you are serious about learning and improving your lettering style, get another blank notebook and keep practicing the basic strokes and alphabets. Do not stop after you finish the 1 page given in the worksheet.
