A knife sharpener that WORKS!
This sharpener really does put a very sharp edge on all plain (NOT serrated) knives. I have always used "static" held sharpeners or "steels" to hone my knives, but once I started to use this electric sharpener, which is really easy to use, and has a "static" honing slot, my knives have performed as they should. Whether slicing fresh bread, tomatoes or meat, the newly sharpened knives sliced as if they were scalpels! I am VERY pleased with this device.

This product is not what I expected but would purchase it again.
It actually sharpens knives but....it takes longer than I expected. I had an electric can opener once in the 70s that had a knife sharpener on the back and it did a better job than this one. But at least it finally gets the knife sharp.

Sharpening stone grit much too course
I found the product to be of poor quality as I only used it three times. The sharpening stone is far too course for simple kitchen knives, more more likely for a hatchet or lawn mower blade. After two or three uses, the stone became detached from the drive shaft and would not hold to the blade as it slid back and forth. (I took it apart to find out why it would not stay where intended) The grit from sharpening goes just about everywhere and is most impossible to clean up. After carefully doing the best I could to clean it up, a residual piece of grit remained somewhere and resulted in a scratch on the surface of my glass top stove, which I was near, but not that near. For me, it is probably best to shop for this type of product where it can be viewed and possibly tested.

Poor quality
Very rough edges on the stones, left knife feeling worse than when began - returned

I have bought two of these now because they are a fantastic tool as well as wrth the money
I bought my first knife sharpener and was very pleased with it. A few months later I got another one justlike this one for my birthday. I gave my first one to my daughter and son in law who finally wore there'sout. She called me asking where I got it and told me what happened. They used that knife sharpener for10 or 11 years before it wore out. Since it's Christmas I ordered them another one. They were very happy to get another one and are still thanking me for their gift. As far as I am concerned I will continue to order and use this as long as it's available when i need to order another one

After the learning curve worked very well
There was a definite learning curve in getting this unit to produce a fine honed edge. Ultimately, the re-edge of the knife is concerning the first time you do the grinder. The vertical honing slot works well; you just have to pull the knife across it quite a few times to get the new edge sharp. But ultimately you get the edge you are looking for. Handled all of my knives well.

Works fine, nothing special
This is a small and lightweight sharpener. The motor is undersized and slows down significantly if we apply pressure. A careful but light pull of a knife through the grinding slots is needed. It works well with patience. Due to it's shape it only sharpens scissors that can be taken apart or that open to nearly 180 degrees. The grinding wheels put a slight bur on the steel edge and need to be honed in the vertical slot and cleaned well before use. It is good value for money but the motor speed prevents me from recommending beyond occasional light use.
