Welding Apron

I did some gas welding in metal shop in high school (40+ years ago) but wanted to learn MIG and TIG welding. I checked with some experienced welders and they recommended that, along with a good mask, gloves, etc., I get a leather apron. Worn with a welder's jacket or shirt this is cooler during hot weather than a leather welder's jacket. That is important because you DON'T want to sweat when electric welding. I took a MIG class at Dallas Makerspace and the apron worked perfectly. It takes a bit of juggling to get the straps right when you first put it on but once you figure out how it works it isn't difficult. Feels sturdy and has handy pockets for pliers, soapstone, etc.

Received the item quickly and am impressed by the materials used in its construction. Leather is of a good thickness that should hold up for a while. Straps are wide and comfortable, easy to adjust and with a sturdy plastic fastener. They must have fixed the odor problem because the one I received smells just fine and I have a sensitive nose. I appreciate the seller providing a quality product for a reasonable price!

Fits and works as it should. Can't tell you how many years I went without one in my workshop, and now that I have it, I really don't know how I existed without one; Kinda like my backup camera on my truck. No more having to shop-vac my clothes off before calling it quits, and I can almost always find my pencil and measuring tape now. It's has quite the new leather apron smell to it. (Picture if you would) You were on the fish all day at your favorite honey hole, and ramped up an all nighter and a beer and music festival and realized by the end of the night nobody came near you because you forgot to take the opened jar of crankbait out of your pocket (not because of the Grateful Dead shirt you were wearing but-doesn't-fit-like-it-used-to) Or better yet, if you came back from another long deployment, and opened your seabag after having left in the garage for a few weeks to finally clean it. It's quite punchy at first, but you get used to it quick and smells right at home. Stitching is decent, nylon straps are okay, I guess. The crossover adjustment in the back likes to slide up, which I might just fix in place by needling some sail twine in place, but overall satisfied. Might review it next year after putting it through the grinder, but well worth the price right now.

This leather apron fits well and is great protection. I purchased this for my son who is in training to be a machinist. There are lots of metal chips bouncing from this apron instead of going on his clothes. The only thing not perfect about this apron is the odor. We had to hang it out for a few days to let the smell diminish.

Great apron. Easy to fit and wear. Very well made. Durability much better than my previous aprons. Comfortable while working, no loose bits to get caught in machinery. Highly recommended.

I bought six aprons! In my search for the perfect workshop apron, I came across six that were all well-reviewed and prime-ready, so I decided to do a shoot-out. Bottom line: The best shop apron is the Hudson Woodworking Edition. The best leather apron is the QeeLink. I would be happy with any of them - except the Angry Beaver. For the price, it is very impressive. I would say that the main shortfall is the pocket situation: the leather chest straps, while nice in appearance, are only good if your utensils have clips. None of my construction pencils do, so I wouldn’t trust them to stay. Further, while the main pocket is quite accommodating, the side pockets are too narrow for almost any of my hand-tools. I can’t think of good use for them other than straw storage. Finally, the straps are nylon, lack shoulder pads, buckles, or a connecting piece for the cross-back straps. All of the pockets are the same and they’re too shallow unless you’re only holding screws. The missing cross back strap was noticeable by comparison. Worst of all, the shoulder straps didn’t adjust well and just kept falling sideways down my arms. Overall: Nice canvas and appealing color, but otherwise, it’s a bit of a mess. Overall: If you don’t wanna spend the extra $5 for the Hudson, then this is more than a serviceable shop apron - plus it is more comfortable. It really isn’t all that comfortable at first, but after I put a few miles on it, it started to ease-up. I was most torn between this one and the QeeLink, just because I love the feel of nice leather, especially on that particular apron. But at the end of the day, the Hudson is just pure quality and I know it will last me a long time. So for me, this one’s the keeper. Overall: If you can afford it, this one is the best. ★★★★★

Bought this for my dad. He uses it in his workshop and loves it. Loves that the pockets are covered so he doesn’t get them full of woodchips. The straps could be better. They are like backpack straps. It definitely stinks when you take it out of the package. Since he keeps it in his shop the smell didn’t matter. Would recommend letting it air out a bit.

Solid, heavy leather. Not the most pleasant smelling at first.

Tablier fonctionnel, confortable. Les grandes poches sont utiles, on garde ses outils sous la main. Et le clip pour l’attacher dans le dos est bien plus simple à utiliser qu’un nœud 😉
